Job Description
Position Title: Director, Financial Planning and Analysis - Contract (ID)


Department: Finance


Region: Toronto


Status: Fixed-term Full time -18-24 months (Hybrid)


Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this Director will manage and execute the financial planning, analysis and reporting function of the organization and undertake special assignments and financial analysis to aid in the decision making of senior management.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Manage, coach and develop senior and junior financial analysts; recruit, engage and retain top talent; maximize the power of equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Partner with the Finance Operations team on the monthly close process to support completeness and accuracy
  • Lead the budget, forecast and 3 year outlook, guiding the finance team and engaging key stakeholders across the organization to ensure resources are aligned with the organization’s goals and priorities with reasonable fee increases for a balanced budget
  • Lead the project for an integrated Fee Model for sustainable, fair and equitable cost recovery
  • Provide strategic financial analysis and insights to support impacts of integration and industry transformation
  • Lead the delivery of the annual Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) by incorporating financial analysis, leveraging business insights and engaging key stakeholders
  • Oversight and ownership of technology solutions to meet cost allocation, planning, analysis and reporting needs, including support of integration activities to enable migration to a single planning platform, cost allocation and ERP.
  • Oversee analysis of variances to budget to understand drivers, update projections and identify corrective actions to manage risks and opportunities
  • Lead the preparation of insightful financial materials, memos and reports for senior management, the Board and its committees
  • Plan, manage and/or execute ad hoc financial projects as required
  • Oversee fixed assets, project accounting and the capitalization policy
  • Present consolidated financial statements, reports, and projections to internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide leadership to team members to support business partnering to high financial impact areas, such as the Transition Management Office, Enterprise Portfolio Management Office and Information Technology


Education/Experience:


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in leading and managing people
  • 10 to 15 years’ experience in a Finance Department in increasingly senior roles with extensive experience in financial analysis, planning and reporting
  • CFA designation an asset
  • Relevant university degree with an accounting designation, preferably CPA, CA

  • Demonstrated focus on continuous improvement and strong problem solving skills
  • Exceptional presentation skills with experience presenting to senior leaders
  • Adaptive Insight experience an asset
  • Conceptual thinking and ability to distill/simplify complex information
