Job Title: Sr. Financial Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis
Reports to: Director, Financial Planning & Analysis
The Sr. Financial Analyst, FP&A will support the creation of budget, forecast, long-term plan, KPI’s, and decision support for Sporting Life Group. Reporting directly to the Director of FP&A, this role is responsible for partnering with the financial reporting team, field and head office departments and other key stakeholders to evaluate and deeply understand financial and operational performance metrics.
Responsibilities:
- Ownership and improvement of the cash and business forecasting models for each banner
- Coordinate the annual budget submissions and maintain the budget models
- Support sales and margin analytics using a deep understanding business levers and components driving performance
- Assist in the evaluation of proposed capital expenditure and ensure impacts of the capital plan are incorporated into the overall financial plans
- Perform store/regional contribution analysis to identify opportunities for profitability and to support decision making
- Become the subject matter expertise on PowerBI for the finance team and leverage data to support management decision making
- Use critical thinking to assist in the development of new processes, systems and models to support the budgeting and forecasting activities of the company
- Support the accounting team on the creation of monthly reporting package, including performance to budget, forecast and prior periods
- Work closely with the financial reporting team to ensure plans of the merchandising, store operations, marketing, logistics and other departments are incorporated into overall financial plans
- Build effective partnerships with internal stakeholders across the organization (i.e. merchandising, marketing, store operations, logistics, etc.) and understand the key drivers of the respective components of the business
Requirements:
- SQL and data analytics skills preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Working towards or obtained CPA designation
- Curiosity about what the analyses tell about the business and a desire to work with cross-functional teams to help drive optimization
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must be able to work well in a team environment and independently
- Strong attention to detail, organizational and time management skills
- Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent experience (3+ years)
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and customer service skills
