Job Title: Sr Manager, Financial Planning and Analysis - 13 month contract
Reports To: Vice President, Finance
The Senior Manager of FP&A will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, KPI’s, and decision support for Sporting Life Group. Reporting directly to the VP Finance, this role is responsible for partnering with the financial reporting team, field and head office departments and other key stakeholders to evaluate and deeply understand financial and operational performance metrics. They will also be responsible to create high quality forecasts of financial performance, develop tools for decision support and insights and become a trusted business partner.
Description of Job Responsibilities:
- Drive innovation and standardization in reporting and forecasting processes, tools, and analysis.
- Manage, train and develop talent on the team.
- Oversees forecasting and budgeting processes throughout year
- Partner with the accounting team on the creation and review of the monthly reporting package, including performance to budget, forecast and prior periods.
- Partner with department heads to improve accuracy of financial planning and forecasting as well as identify business improvement opportunities.
- Provide ongoing executive level communication to business leaders across the organization to facilitate and support decision-making on capital planning and deployment, cost control and various other operational and business development initiatives.
- Think critically about strategic finance issues and strategy, including finding solutions for complex financial scenarios, communication with stakeholders across the different groups in the organization and senior leadership.
- Performs P&L and KPI analyses for retail banners and store support centre functions; includes detailed financial statement analysis and provides comments/suggestions for improvement in results.
- Helps lead the adoption and management of the financial planning platform.
- Understands our relative performance and uncover opportunities for improvement through benchmarking against listed and privately held peers and comparisons from other industries.
Essential Requirements and Qualifications:
- Strong organizational, project leadership, and time management skills.
- 3 - 5 years’ managerial experience.
- Post-secondary education (University preferred) with a focus on finance, business or economics.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- 6+ years progressive experience and well versed in financial planning and analysis within the retail industry.
