Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Services, the primary role of the Director of Information Services/Technical Project Manage is to ensure alignment of Information Services operations and services with the School’s mission, vision, values, and overall business objectives.
The Director of Information Services/Technical Project Manager will provide the Executive Team with the overall strategy, governance, and high-level architecture of the computing environment.
This role must have the ability to provide strategic and technical expertise relating to information systems and technology and to lead the IS team in planning, developing, and implementing all Information Systems (IS) -related initiatives including the following:
• Provide direction and support for information technologies that enable and enhance CPAWSB business and operations.
• Create strategies and specific objectives for the sub-functions and develop budgets, policies, and procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
• Formulate and support execution of long-term strategic plans for maintaining, acquiring, and enabling efficient and cost-effective information technologies within CPAWSB.
• Establish, plan, and administer the overall policies and goals for the IS department.
• Review and update information technology policies and procedures to manage risk and demonstrate financial and operational control.
• Coordinate the needs of the various departments and determine ways to address business objectives by modifying existing or developing new information processing systems.
• Coordinate the information systems and technology requirements of the departments and establish a computing environment that reflects those collective needs.
• Establish and monitor the overall departmental capital and annual operational (expense) budget for CPAWSB information and technology systems operations.
• Manage the research and selection of IT equipment, applications, and supplies.
• Communicate regularly with executive and senior level management providing expert level advice and recommendations for any technology related needs for the CPAWSB.
• Review performance of information technology service delivery, adjusting/enhancing to optimize operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.
• Support IS managers in department staffing including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, retention, and performance management.
• Define and manage resource requirements and allocations, monitor, and improve quality, and ensure ‘best practice' development techniques.
• Conduct an annual review of the personal information being collected, the reasons for such collection, assessing whether the type of personal information being collected is necessary and the minimum amount required for the identified purpose(s), and reviewing who has access to personal information.
• Ensure privacy measures are integrated into team operational activities in accordance with the School’s Privacy Policy, ensuring team compliance with the School’s information management policies and practices, and coordinating with the School’s privacy officer as needed.
Education & Technical Skills:
Education:
• Post-secondary degree/technical diploma in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent
Nice to Have:
• MBA
• Project Management Designation (PMP)
Technical Skills:
• Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Information Technology, including managing an Information Technology (IT) department.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Project management, managing IT projects and information security.
• Proven experience managing an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) level implementation.
• Proven experience managing and / or directing an information services operation.
• Training/education in computer operations, technologies, project management, and leadership.
• Good understanding and technical knowledge of current network technologies and protocols, hardware (physical/virtual, including operating systems), and telephony.
• Experience leading teams, mentoring, coaching, and driving successful projects.
• Strong understanding of application lifecycle management and development methodologies.
Communication Skills:
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Self-motivated and directed, attentive to detail.
• Excels in a high-pressure and fast paced environment; able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
• Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language to a diverse technical and non-technical audience.
• Ability to read, write and speak English fluently
