WHO WE ARE
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was established in 1999 as an international independent agency to lead a collaborative worldwide movement for doping-free sport. As the global regulatory body, WADA’s primary role is to develop, harmonize and coordinate anti-doping rules and policies across all sports and countries. Our key activities include: scientific and social science research; education; intelligence & investigations; development of anti-doping capacity; and, monitoring of compliance with the World Anti-Doping Program.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Manager will be responsible for leading special projects for laboratory development and implementation (e.g., application of Dried Blood Spots analytical testing program) and providing support in various activities related to the monitoring of laboratory operations and management of laboratory-related issues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in any other activity related to WADA-accredited laboratory operations, as determined by the Senior Associate Director, Laboratories (for example, activities related to the WADA EQAS Management System).
- Contribute to the monitoring of laboratory operations, including technical on-site laboratory assessments, documentation review and follow-ups;
- Contribute to the drafting and review of WADA laboratory normative documents (technical documents, technical letters, technical notes and laboratory guidelines), in particular those related to the DBS analytical testing program;
- Production of reports and preparation of documents for internal and external expert review and for WADA stakeholders. This includes, among others, DBS WG meeting minutes and reports to the Lab EAG and WADA Management, as well as presentations of related activities in internal and external meetings, workshops, or symposia;
- Lead in collaboration with the Senior Associate Director, Laboratories, the Analytical Working Group (WG) on Dried Blood Spots (DBS), including the reporting of WG activities to the WADA Laboratory Expert Advisory Group (Lab EAG);
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Experience working in an international environment is an asset;
- Fit with organizational culture: Teamwork, team spirit and love of sport;
- Must be available to travel (3 times per year approximately);
- Able to identify and analyze problems and develop practical solutions;
- Periodic work in the evening or on weekends;
- Master of Science degree with a minimum of five years’ experience;
- Background in Analytical Science. Experience in anti-doping science and analytical chemistry, specifically in DBS analysis and chromatography/mass-spectrometric techniques will be considered an asset. Experience in an ISO-quality environment is highly recommended;
- Excellent oral and written skills in one of the two WADA official languages (English/French) and very good command of the other official language; Additional languages would be an asset;
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a team and independently;
