The Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) is a national labour organization that represents over 5,500 key creative and logistical personnel in the screen-based industry coverall all areas of direction, design, production and editing. The DGC is currently seeking an Administrative Coordinator to join their Vancouver office.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Associate National Executive Director (ANED) the coordinatoris responsible for assisting in all select initiatives and outreach activities nationally. This role assists with carrying out strategic directions, policies and priorities in order to realize the DGC’s strategic plan and other National initiatives.
Responsibilities
Administration
- Research and summarize relevant industry news, events and programs for ANED
- Assist with coordination of data, research and support required for Collective Bargaining and National initiatives including Value of Work Project, Director Statistics Report
- Coordinate and support National Administration Initiatives
- Coordinate and support National Caucus Initiatives
- Assist ANED with scheduling and coordinating meetings
- Assist ANED with production and non production related matters including coordinating Regional District Council initiatives , liase with National and District Councils on common initiatives (DEI, Sustainability, Training, including recruitment)
- Assist ANED with Collective Bargaining and Contract related matters and support for Regional Councils
- Generate data sets from database and other online sources
General
- Develop extensive mailing lists of members, non-members and other industry stakeholders
- Assist ANED directly with scheduling, digital curation, correspondence, as well as support for tracking and collecting Director Rights Acquisition Fees, database entry/management
- Work with National Finance department for distribution of RAF
- Other duties as required from time to time
- Assist with communicating initiatives to Members, stakeholders and public by developing, proofreading and finalizing messages
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Film industry experience an asset
- College diploma in Administration or a related field.
- Three years in an administrative role that includes communications and / or events responsibilities
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Demonstrable organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Competent in all Microsoft Office applications especially Excel
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
