Position Description
Reporting to the Director, Development and Alumni Relations, the incumbent supports the department in achieving fundraising and alumni engagement goals for the College, with a strong focus on excellent customer service and teamwork. The incumbent provides administrative support for the office with a particular focus on gift administration, database administration and donor stewardship administration, administrative support to the Director, alumni and donor communications, and budget transaction, monitoring and reporting. A successful incumbent will demonstrate strong attention to detail, have a proven track record of outstanding planning and organizational skills, exhibit excellent customer service, and demonstrate a commitment to the SLC Values.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Two-year diploma in business administration, accounting, office administration, or equivalent, in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in an administrative support role. Preference will be given to candidates with experience with fundraising database software, and knowledge of gift processing and Canada Revenue Agency legislation, or similar experience.
Other Required Qualifications:
The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location or work temporarily from a remote location with reliable internet access, as approved by the College and in accordance with the college’s Telework Policy.

THIS IS A FULL-TIME BARGAINING UNIT POSITION
This competition will be processed in accordance with College policy, the Academic and Support Staff Collective Agreements. In addition to comparing candidates’ qualifications and experience to the listed technical skills, education, work experience, and personal characteristics (values, attitudes, motivation, and performance), the seniority of Bargaining Unit members will be considered. - Research, analysis and reconciliation skills.
- Strict adherence to confidentiality.
- A high degree of familiarity with the day-to-day operation of an alumni/development office.
- Understanding of accounting principles including budget analysis and activity tracking of all major donations, trusts, revenues, disbursements and departmental operating budgets.
- Tactful and diplomatic with advanced interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications – spreadsheet, word processing, database, presentation (MS Office Suite), email (Outlook), internet, fundraising database (Raisers Edge), student/ financial information system (PeopleSoft).
- Detail oriented and accurate.
- Customer-focused.
- Strong planning and coordinating skills including monitoring, follow-up, prioritization and time control.
- Well organized with ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to understand and correctly apply College policies, procedures, legislated guidelines/regulations.
- Advanced written/verbal communication and liaison skills.
