Program Overview
Employment Ontario Youth Services programs are designed to support youth between the ages of 15 and 29 who face barriers to employment, and help them achieve long-term employment, meaningful careers, and success in their future working lives. It provides access to employability workshops and employment skills development, along with education/training resources, summer jobs and other work experiences.
We’re looking for someone who will:
  • Coordinate relevant guest speaker presentations and group excursions as it pertains to job readiness
  • Coordinate client participation in pre-employment workshops, provide individual employment counselling, life skills coaching, and group facilitation
  • Provide excellent customer service by helping clients to clarify goals and determine actions/solutions through assessment, case management, and counselling
  • Have knowledge of current local labour market trends, community services, and resources across the City of Toronto
  • Conduct intakes, interview and assess clients for appropriateness of program; manage client and referring agent expectations
  • Promote Employment Ontario Services for youth, ensure youth participation in referrals and service coordination, and liaise with EO teams to support placements
  • Monitor clients’ performance with follow-up of individual plans; help with implementation of individual plans and provide feedback
  • Provide community outreach by marketing the program, liaise with community service providers and the local youth community
  • Develop materials for life skills and employability workshops, deliver and facilitate sessions
  • Meet client intake, participation, and engagement targets through effectively carrying out the above mentioned tasks and distributing program promotional materials to actively seek out new clients
  • Maintain detailed client records, enter all case notes and documentation on a database - Salesforce, update files and produce statistical documentation
  • Assess clients’ abilities, skills and needs, and establish mutually agreed upon employment action plans
Flexible hours / evenings / weekends may be required for this position.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Sensitivity and tact to deal effectively with youth from different backgrounds and life circumstances and engage them in the program
  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of vulnerable youth with an ability to develop and maintain relationships with young people
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Post Graduate Certificate in Counselling or Social Services with placement experience, or a related Degree with 3-5 years of counselling experience. International Degrees must be evaluated for Canadian equivalency
  • Effective verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with a varied client population and successfully manage a variety of professional and psychosocial challenges
  • Experience providing case management, workshop development and facilitation to youth
  • Strong customer service skills and experience, demonstrated problem-solving and decision making skills
  • A clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required for this position
  • Possess current working knowledge of employment-related issues and learning approaches to support youth with developing job readiness skills
  • Effective written communication skills; experience with writing reports to agency standards
  • Computer literate, proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to learn systems used by the agency (i.e. Salesforce)
