Job Description
Hi! I'm Avery, CEO and Founder at Bloom—a Toronto-based full-service workplace consultancy with a global impact on a mission to build work that works for everyone. Having faced my share of subpar workplace experiences, I established Bloom to empower conscious companies to thrive. We're the exclusive workplace design consultancy, transforming employee journeys holistically. Whether you're building teams, revamping HR systems, or seeking tailored DEI workshops, we've got you covered. I firmly believe that the future of work is not just a forecast; it's a practice.

In just 5 years, Bloom has evolved into a multimillion-dollar force, aiding renowned global enterprises—think Spotify, Knix, Beef Farmers of Ontario—in their growth. Now, we are hiring DEI Facilitators to join our expert consultants, delivering context-specific DEI learning to esteemed organizations worldwide. We need hyper-organized, solution-driven, and thoughtful DEI Facilitators with solid presentation skills to guide our partners in their collective and personal DEI journeys. If you're passionate about people, work, and building exceptional teams through anti-oppressive practices, keep reading!

Bloom has already guided tens of thousands on their DEI learning journeys, partnering with names like Spotify, Loblaw Digital, and Shopify. Are you committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion? Do you dismantle barriers that hinder marginalized individuals' workplace success? In this role, you'll collaborate with Bloom's DEI Advisors to enhance workplace experiences for all. Your daily tasks will vary, from facilitating sessions to crafting blog posts and social media content. With growing client interest in DEI work, we're excited to connect with a passionate DEI Facilitator to join our team. We're eager to learn more about you if that resonates with you.

What is Bloom?

Bloom is a full-service workplace design consultancy. We help our clients build more diverse teams, develop equitable hiring systems, and design inclusive workplace experiences so people can bring their whole authentic selves to work. From building a magnetic talent strategy to anti-racism training, we take a people-first approach. At Bloom, we believe growth is good, and we're happy to help our partners navigate all aspects of their growth. Long story short: We are building work that works for everyone.

Our core values are Anticipation, Inclusion, Authenticity, Transparency, and Growth. We are removing the bullsh*t from workplace experiences and pride ourselves on always being unapologetically true to ourselves.

Long story short: As a team of people from historically marginalized communities, we aren't just building the future of work—we are the future of work.

The Opportunity

  • Providing guidance and coaching to participants on how to integrate DEI principles into their daily work practices, behaviours and interactions;
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including HR, leadership, and other stakeholders, to align DEI initiatives with broader organizational goals;.
  • Utilizing a variety of facilitation techniques, tools, and activities to cultivate engaging and thought-provoking learning experiences;
  • Staying current with industry trends, research, and best practices related to DEI, and incorporating new insights into facilitation materials and approaches;
  • Guiding and collaborating with Bloom partners to understand their DEI learning goals, values, and challenges in order to design customized educational programs;
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of training sessions through participant feedback, assessments, and ongoing communication with client organizations;
  • Leading virtual and in-person workshops, training sessions, and seminars on a range of DEI topics, adapting content to meet the specific needs of each organization;
  • Delivering interactive DEI sessions that promote awareness, understanding, and actionable strategies for fostering more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace experiences for all;
  • Contributing to the development of educational resources, materials, and tools to support ongoing learning and DEI efforts.
  • Fostering a safe and respectful environment for open dialogue and constructive conversations around sensitive DEI topics;

Did you know? Over and over again, research tells us that male-identified candidates apply to jobs when they meet less than 60% of the criteria; women and other marginalized folks tend to only apply when they meet 100% of the qualifications. If you do not have all of the qualifications listed below we encourage you to apply anyway!

What You’ll Bring To The Table

  • You have a deep, intersectional understanding of the foundations of diversity, equity, and inclusion at work and have experience teaching others;
  • You have a high EQ and an empathetic, compassionate, and resourceful facilitation style in a space where the work inherently involves working with different types of people, personalities, viewpoints, conflicts or emotions;
  • You have excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage and connect with diverse audiences;
  • You are excited about collaborating on a unique, human-centred learning experience to guide collective and individual growth at work and beyond;
  • You have the flexibility and adaptability to accommodate varying client needs and preferences;
  • You have a deep understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, as well as familiarity with social justice and cultural competency concepts;
  • You have strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple projects and deadlines;
  • You have the ability to analyze feedback and make adjustments to improve facilitation methods and content.
  • You have an understanding of anti-oppressive work strategies and decolonizing practices for organizations;
  • You have proven experience as a DEI facilitator, trainer, or educator, with a strong track record of delivering impactful workshops and training programs both virtually and in-person;
  • You are proficient in using various virtual collaboration tools and platforms for remote facilitation;
  • You value building trust and partnerships with interdisciplinary teams and external clients and their stakeholders;
  • You have strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to navigate sensitive conversations and create a welcoming learning environment;
  • You take a thoughtful approach to visual, written, and verbal communication skills (concise, organized, and easily digestible).

More About Us

  • We take every suggestion seriously at Bloom. Have feedback? Let me know! Want to launch a book club? We want to support you! The opportunity for growth is limitless here because we don't put folks into boxes. We will do our best to help you build it if you can dream it.
  • You'll have autonomy and input in selecting every client we work with. No surprises. We get collective team approval before taking on any new contracts.
  • You can work with Bloom in a way that works for you. If you're interested in working with us via your corporation, sole proprietorship, or as a long-term contract, we are happy to build work that works for you.
  • You'll never work on the weekend or hear from me (Avery) after 6 PM during the week. People rarely work on Fridays here; if they do, it's on their own time—when they want, how they want.
  • We're a tight-knit team; however, there is space to work autonomously and independently quite a bit.

The Interview Process

  • Round 3: 1- hour Candidate Challenge Video Presentation via Zoom with the Bloom Panel (You will be given a take- home challenge to present to the panel. We will compensate each candidate that makes it to this phase of the hiring process with a $150 gift card or donation to an organization of your choice)
  • Round 2: 45- minute video interview via Zoom with Avery Francis (Founder and CEO, Bloom)
  • Round 1: 30-minute screen via Zoom with Jade (Sr. Talent Advisor)

Application Deadline: We are accepting applications for this role up to August 28, 2023. All candidates who have applied will be contacted with what’s next in the interview process by August 30, 2022. Any and all applicants that come after the communicated deadline will not be considered.

Compensation, Location, Work Hours

  • $40.00 - $50.00 per hour + $500 Bonus per session
  • We are 100% remote and encourage folks to work where they can do their best work. Fun flex —our team went remote before the pandemic forced (most of) the workforce to do so.
  • This is an ongoing fractional contract opportunity operating on an hourly basis.

$40 - $50 an hour

We care deeply about offering all applicants a fair and consistent interview process. Even though we would love to connect and answer any questions you have about Bloom, we can't accommodate doing that for all candidates. Keeping our interview process consistent allows us to remove bias while hiring the best person for the position.

Bloom is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations and will work with you to meet your needs. If you are a person with a disability and require assistance during the application process, please don't hesitate to reach out! We encourage applications from all qualified candidates, including those with disabilities. If you require accommodation, please email [email protected], and we will work with you to meet your needs. Accommodation may be provided in all parts of the hiring process. We celebrate our anti-oppressive work environment and welcome members of all backgrounds and perspectives to apply.

We know many great companies are hiring right now, so thank you for considering us as part of your selection process.

Ready to grow? If so, apply!
