Position Title:Academic Facilitator

Primary Purpose

Fleming College, Toronto Programs is a public college-private partnership between Fleming College and Trebas Institute, with academic delivery and student support services managed by Trebas Institute.

FCT is looking for an experienced English/Writing educator to join our team as an Academic Faciliatator. The role holder will have exceptional organizational and communication skills to lead class lessons and discussions while encouraging students to develop skills and knowledge critically and rationally.

Specific Responsibilities

• Organize learning materials, discussions, and presentations by bringing excitement, enthusiasm, and commitment to the sessions.
• Challenge ideas and encourage students to develop skills and knowledge critically and rationally.
• Review submitted assignments to help students identify areas for improvement.
• Evaluate and regularly review students’ progress and provide feedback.
• Clarify problems similar to those on graded assignments.
• Help reinforce understanding of concepts taught in class.
• Plan, prepare and deliver various English/Writing-related topics for appointment-based one-on-one/group sessions.
• Maintain attendance records for planning and forecasting relating to classroom management.
• Create a supportive and positive learning environment.

Position Requirements

Education and Experience:

• Degree in Education, Linguistics, English as a Second Language or equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching at a minimum Grade 12 level — subjects like ESL/EFL, EAP, ESP, Writing, Communication Skills.
• TESL Certification.
• Experience teaching in a multicultural classroom.
