Job Description
We are a congregation with a growing average attendance of 240 (315, pre-covid), strong family emphasis, and rich history of supporting missions work locally, nationally and overseas. MAC is a multi-generational congregation with modern, contemporary worship services. Our children’s and student ministry are strong and growing with excellent leaders building into them. Children's Ministry averages 56 people/Sunday; Student Ministry averages 40 people/week.
The Family Ministry Pastor (FMP) is a permeant full-time position, reporting to the Lead Pastor (LP). The successful candidate will provide oversight and spiritual leadership to children and student areas and activities of the church, ensuring that they are in alignment with the overall vision and mission and values of MAC. Through creative and prayerful leadership, the FMP will develop strategies to nurture children and students in the faith, helping equip them to become fully mature in Christ.
Responsibilities
AS A STAFF MEMBER (20%)
These are regular expectations of pastoral staff at MAC. These duties can vary in intensity and frequency and as such require the ability to be flexible in planning, and a willingness to step up to help the whole team succeed when needed.
-Serve as a member of the pastoral staff team. -Participate in weekly staff meetings and quarterly strategic planning.
-Participate in regular visitation and outreach opportunities.
-Perform general pastoral ministry to the children, students, their families. Perform other duties as assigned by Lead Pastor.
-Preach 6-8 times a year, as appropriate.
AS FAMILY MINISTRY PASTOR (70%)
You will have the flexibility to use your creativity to develop new ministries and methods to reach and disciple children, students, and parents, with an emphasis towards a groups model of ministry. The FMP is responsible to oversee and ensure the following are done, but does not necessitate that the FMP is responsible for doing all of the work themselves.
-Pray for children, students, and their families.
-Develop ministry teams for children & student ministries and work with them in the promotion, planning, & implementation of activities, coordinating curriculum and events.
-Prepare and administer family ministry budgets according to church policies. Develop strong communication methods between various family ministries and parents.
-Set annual Family Ministry goals in conjunction with the LP.
-Oversee & Lead ongoing weekly FM activities including kids church (Sunday mornings), and mid-week Student Ministry events.
-Ensure all paperwork, volunteers, and programming is compliant with Plan to Protect® policies.
-Develop a discipleship strategy for children, youth, and their families (Child Dedication, evangelism, baptism, mentoring, etc.).
-Develop an outreach/evangelism strategy to reach new children, students, and families and bring them into the life of the church.
ADMINISTRATION (10%)
Various administrative duties as needed, including but not limited to:
-Plan to Protect® paperwork.
-Ministry administration and curriculum planning.
-General office duties related to ministry areas, answering emails, office communication, etc.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
-Prior approval to legally be able to work in Canada
-A bachelor's degree from a theological bible school or seminary
-5+ years pastoral experience in a growing/multi-staff church
-Be licensed with The Alliance Canada (or willing to become so prior to employment)
-Willingness to sign the C&MA 'A Call to -Excellence' document
-Strong aptitude with latest technology like Google G-Suite, Slack, Basecamp, social media, etc.
