Primary Purpose

Fleming College, Toronto Programs is a public college-private partnership between Fleming College and Trebas Institute, with academic delivery and student support services managed by Trebas Institute.

FCT is looking for an experienced Mathematics or Accounting/Finance educator to join our team as an Academic Facilitator. The role holder will have exceptional organizational and communication skills to lead class lessons and discussions on 1:1 basis, while encouraging students to develop skills and knowledge critically and rationally.

Specific Responsibilities

• Evaluate and regularly review students’ progress and provide feedback.
• Plan, prepare and deliver various math/accounting-related topics for drop-in sessions 1:1 sessions.
• Review submitted assignments to help students identify areas for improvement.
• Challenge ideas, and encourage students to develop skills and knowledge critically and rationally.
• Clarify problems similar to those on graded assignments.
• Maintain attendance records for planning and forecasting relating to classroom management.
• Organize coursework and learning materials, and lead class lessons, discussions, and presentations by bringing excitement, enthusiasm, and commitment to the sessions.
• Create a supportive and positive classroom environment.
• Help reinforce understanding of concepts taught in class.

Position Requirements

Education and Experience:

• Degree in Education, Mathematics, Accounting/Finance or equivalent required.
• Experience teaching in a multicultural classroom.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience teaching at a minimum Grade 12 level — subjects like Math, Calculus, Statistics, Financial literacy.

Knowledge and Skills:

• An adaptable and understanding personality with a professional attitude and a dedication to excellence in teaching.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to accommodate differences in students’ learning styles.
• Ability to motivate students to achieve their learning objectives.
• Passionate about the language, student learning and education.
