Program: Canadian Employment Connections (CEC)


1-year contract starting on August 30, 2023


Location: Toronto/North York/Mississauga

Canadian Employment Connections (CEC) is a free pre-arrival employment program that offers virtual services to prepare internationally trained professionals for the Canadian job market. The program brings together ACCES Employment’s expertise and vast network of Canadian employers in the following six sectors: Engineering, Financial Services, Human Resources, Leadership, Sales and Marketing, and Supply Chain. This fully online program requires the Employment Consultant to be proficient in different online platforms and comfortable tracking, monitoring, and maintaining data to ensure all client targets and outcomes are met.


The Employment Consultant, CEC works within a large team that supports fully online services for over 1,200 jobseekers annually and plays an important role in ensuring that clients develop the skills and strategies necessary to successfully transition into the Canadian labour market.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Maintain an active caseload, including all file management responsibilities
  • Participate fully and responsibly as an equal member of an employment consulting team
  • And other duties as assigned
  • Develop relationships with private and public sector employers in order to market ACCES services and clients and place clients in jobs
  • Provide professional support to clients using ACCES resource services
  • Facilitate workshops that will prepare clients to market themselves to employers and to find and maintain employment
  • Provide culturally sensitive employment services including intake and assessment, one-to-one and group employment counseling, and referrals
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with community organizations and partners to make appropriate referrals
  • Meet monthly statistical requirements and maintain professional and effective information tracking systems on all activities performed
  • Advocate on behalf of clients whenever necessary, including support in areas of employment, skills training, social assistance, and equitable access to services
  • Conduct needs assessments and career testing in individual and/or group settings


Qualifications and Experience:


  • A post-secondary education in Career and Work Counseling, Adult Education or a related field and/or 5 years of directly related work experience
  • Flexible to work occasional evenings and weekend hours
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Thorough knowledge of all facets of job search and career development including an understanding of labour market trends and resources
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and self-management skills to work effectively with clients, co-workers, outside agencies, and employers
  • Experience working in an MSOffice environment; familiarity with digital platforms and databases (Salesforce preferred)
  • Online facilitation experience is a strong asset (in particular, experience with using Zoom and MS Teams). Canadian Employment Connections is a virtual program.
  • Demonstrated experience in case and file management
  • Fluency in a second language will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of/experience working with internationally trained professionals and new immigrants is a strong asset
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct outreach\marketing of clients and services to employers
  • Teaching English as a Second Language Certificate is an asset


We are currently on a hybrid work schedule, working in the office and from home. This hybrid work schedule is subject to change based on business requirements.


Job status: Unionized


Contract Duration: 1-year contract starting on August 30, 2023


Salary: $54,467.55 per annum (as per Union salary grid), prorated to contract duration
