New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is committed to transforming lives and communities. The College is currently seeking a dynamic and competent individual for the position of Student Success Coach, Indigenous. - Serving as a coach and mentor to equity deserving learners at NBCC, bridging learners to the supports and services they require to be successful and continue with their studies.
- Monitoring learners' academic progress and supporting the success of learners through open communications and collaboration with faculty and staff.
- Delivering presentations to prospective and current learners on supports and services.
- Maintaining awareness of programs, referrals and assessing areas for improvement to support learners' satisfaction and persistence levels.
- Establishing networks - facilitating connection to and coordination of various campus, community and provincial resources.
- Guiding learners in developing success plans that include setting goals and identifying, planning for, and overcoming potential obstacles, and monitoring progress toward goals.
- Establishing and coordinating an online and/or campus-based community for support and resource sharing.
- Developing relationships, hosting, and honoring Elders and Knowledge Keepers as part of the Elder Resource Program.
- Maintaining up to date learner files and program data for the purpose of effective case management and monthly reporting.
- Facilitating programming, including cultural sharing events to empower and engage learners with the goal of increasing belonging.
- Supporting the work of our Student Services in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion at NBCC.
- Preference may be given to candidates who self-identify as Indigenous.
- Minimum 2 years' experience delivering projects or programming to equity deserving populations, preferably within an educational setting.
- Self-motivated, service and results oriented.
- Demonstrated experience that indicates personal commitment to equity, inclusion, innovation, teamwork, flexibility, and integrity.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Diploma or Degree in a relevant discipline (Social Work, Human Services, Counselling) with related years of experience. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
- Experience translating cultural or social student issues for staff is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience advising and counselling learners and making effective referrals including during times of crisis and/or distress.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Candidates must possess a valid Driver's License as travel will be required.
- A desire for continuous learning and growth.
- Knowledge of Indigenous cultures, communities, customs, practices and languages is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
- Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.
- Demonstrated experience with assessment of barriers, learner advising, coaching or motivational interviewing skills would be considered an asset.
- Sound presentation and public speaking skills utilizing new technology, and creativity.

- A competitive salary range of $51,844.00 to $62,088.00 annually.
