To support the vision and principles of the City of Mississauga's Youth Friendly Culture.

Raise awareness and involvement for youth within the community to engage, interact and provide information about youth-friendly activities and community resources.

Provide mentorship and guidance for youth-driven and youth-led events and activities.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Flexible hours of daytime, evenings and weekends will be required.

Youth scouting: Proactively identify and screen young individuals with leadership potential through partnerships with other organizations and by organizing recruitment events.

Grants acquisition: Identify pertinent grant opportunities, diligently track and follow up on applications, and creatively write and submit grant proposals.

Ability to relate to the youth

Comfortable with flexible work time including weekends

Proven strong project management skills with ability to multi-task and set priorities within tight timelines.

Ability to make decisions and work independently, strong personal ethics, integrity, reliable, time management and organization skills.

CYW Degree/diploma or a related Human Services discipline or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong administration and leadership skills and experience in the non-profit environment including motivation, delegation, coaching/mentoring, empowerment and demonstrated initiative.

Strong computer skills (including MS Office Suite) and experience

Develop process to engage youth with lived experience at all stages of the process.

Design, implement and evaluate recreational, social, cultural programs and activities which benefit and create a variety of experiences for youth

Follow risk management protocols; update risk management and emergency protocols as required; complete incident and accident reports in a timely manner

Experience and/or education related to social work, counseling, addiction and drug or alcohol abuse

Prepare and manage program budget

Marketing and event planning skills

Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Work with the PI and Project Manager to revise the project work plan as needed to achieve project deliverables.

Assist with the administration of intervention evaluation, including data entry and analysis of evaluation data .

Assist with the training of community-based facilitators to support program.

Maintain program fidelity during delivery in multiple sites.

Effectively run and maintain the program facilitation and evaluation functions of the project.

Experience providing case management, workshop development and facilitation to youth

Assess clients’ abilities, skills and needs, and establish mutually agreed upon employment action plans

Provide excellent customer service by helping clients to clarify goals and determine actions/solutions through assessment, case management, and counselling

Possess current working knowledge of employment-related issues and learning approaches to support youth with developing job readiness skills

Strong customer service skills and experience, demonstrated problem-solving and decision making skills

Effective written communication skills; experience with writing reports to agency standards

Minimum of three years’ experience in a relevant field is required; directly working with youth is preferred.

Demonstrated ability and experience in creating opportunities for meaningful youth engagement and fostering youth leadership.

Experience in the application of public health principles and practices, partnership development, and community development

Experience relevant to children and youth, health promotion strategies in school and community settings preferred

Baccalaureate degree in a relevant health care discipline (ex. registered nurse, occupational therapist, social work, nutritionist).

Registered/licensed with your regulated health care discipline, college or association is required (registered nurse, occupational therapist, social work, nutritionist).

Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of community recreation with particular emphasis on children/youth recreation programs and events.

Demonstrated exceptional organizational and children/youth recreation program/event planning skills.

Necessary knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of volunteers and organized recreation.

Necessary knowledge of the methods, procedures, techniques and equipment used in teaching, instructing, organizing and leading a wide variety of activities.

Strong project management skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Strong Customer Service and People Management skills.

Ensure current self-knowledge of technical skills for staff development.

Provide project management expertise to support and recommend solutions and changes in ways to meet corporate priorities

Knowledge of Municipal, Regional, Provincial and Federal Governments, experience in policy, legislation and regulation analysis.

Graphic design and/or page layout design skills (or interest to learn), and experience with tools like Canva or Adobe’s InDesign software.

In-depth knowledge of the UN Global Goals (SDGs) and understanding of human rights-based approach to development.

Knowledge of, and commitment to, feminist, anti-racist and decolonial practice and ongoing (un)learning, and an interest in international development and cooperation.

Experience organizing events, is an asset.
