The City of Beaumont is seeking an individual with exceptional interpersonal skills and organizational abilities for the role of Community Development Coordinator – Youth, in the Family and Community Social Services (FCSS) department. This is a full-time twelve (12) month term position.

Reporting to the Supervisor of FCSS & Social Development, The Community Development Coordinator-Youth will primarily support youth and parents, act as a resource, support, and liaison between parents, youth, Family Resource Network (FRN), local and regional, Children’s Services, Schools, Public Library, Public Health, Family Violence Prevention Team, and the municipality to ensure a coordinated, collaborative approach to the delivery of social prevention and education programs and services in Beaumont.

As the ideal candidate, you will have a degree in social work or human services, with a minimum of three years of experience in community practice (equivalent combination of and experience may be considered). A strong understanding of youth development, parenting support and education, relationship building, family violence prevention and education, community engagement and asset-based community development are all essential.

Experience delivering youth support and parent education groups, as well as delivering social and emotional skill development groups and programs, coordinating community presentations, workshops and events and substance abuse education sessions, would be an asset. Working in a rapidly growing community with changing needs and experience working in municipal government would also be an asset. Proficiency in outcome reporting and Microsoft Office programs are also required.

The successful candidate for this position must provide a clear Criminal Record Check and Alberta Children Services Intervention Check as a condition of employment and prior to the commencement of work.

This term position is 35 hours per week and offers a salary range of $67,249 - $87,724 (based on experience and qualifications), and a competitive benefits package.
