Job Description
Trans Mountain operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 300,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta and British Columbia, and 111 kilometres of pipeline in Washington state.

As the Environmental Coordinator - Air, you will be integral part of the Environment, Health and Safety Team. Reporting to the Manager of Environment, you will have the opportunity to utilize your knowledge of regulatory standards and environmental programs to support on Greenhouse Gas and environmental air emission matters across Trans Mountain’s operations.


This is a 12-month contract role based in our Calgary Head Office.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for ambient air quality monitoring, including management of several stations and associated reporting
  • Support management of environmental air emissions programs including National Pollutant Release Inventory, Greenhouse Gas compliance reporting, and fugitive emissions management.
  • Lead air reporting requirements including quarterly and annual submissions to various agencies and stakeholders
  • Provide oversight of contractors, air emissions project activities, emergency response activities, audits and other functions
  • Periodic travel will be required including light field work to collect field samples
  • Develop and maintain corporate environmental procedures, standards and associated training
  • Team player, able to take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedules
  • Manage investigation and response to environmental complaints relating to odours and noise
  • Maintain a commitment to safety, compliance, ethics, and operational excellence
  • Provide support as subject matter expert to other business units in management of various types of environmental air related projects and inquiries
  • Perform essential office duties such as report writing, technical editing for contractor reports, air program management, and financial project detail tracking


Qualifications and Professional Experience:


  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for various office duties
  • Successful track record in project related tasks including oversight of contractors, productive interaction with project team members including various internal and external stakeholders, interaction with legal representation, and communication of progress, strategy, goals and fiscal project management
  • Possess excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with federal and provincial air management framework and ambient air monitoring guidelines
  • Competency in report preparation to regulatory agencies describing work performed and results
  • Project Management Professional or Environmental Professional credentials considered an asset
  • 2+ years of experience in air emissions management, preferably in Oil & Gas
  • Knowledge of fugitive survey techniques, emissions modelling and source testing and associated regulatory guidelines and methods and/or related experience
  • Experience with air emissions inventory development relating to federal and provincial regulations (NPRI, AB, BC)
  • Knowledge of project management concepts and tools to manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality
  • B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or closely related field
