About The Position

Lethbridge College offers a student-centered environment that provides practical and innovative learning experiences. The Centre for Business, Arts, and Sciences ( CBAS ) delivers a range of certificate, diploma, university transfer, including Indigenous Career Pathways, Business Administration, Administrative Office Professional, General Arts and Science, Health Sciences, Exercise Science, and Academic Upgrading, together with service courses to students in many other Lethbridge College programs.

The Centre defines itself through excellence in teaching and learning, fostering curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking in all activities: development and renewal of courses and programs, approaches to teaching and learning, and scholarly activity and community engagement by students and faculty.

CBAS currently seeks a faculty member with superior preparation and ongoing engagement in their academic and professional fields, passion for teaching, and willingness to commit to making excellence in teaching their primary focus. Specifically, we wish to appoint a Term Certain faculty with the background, expertise, and proven ability to teach our transfer courses in English and Communications.

• This teaching position is face-to-face instruction and requires the successful candidate to be on campus.

The Successful Candidate Will Fulfill The Following Responsibilities

• Be capable of teaching our other university transfer courses including 1st and 2nd-year courses.
• Prepare and teach multiple sections of the ENG -1159 Writing for the Workplace, ENG 1150 English Composition, and COM 1162 Interpersonal Communications.
• Support inclusiveness and diversity through embracing the college’s policies on indigenization and internationalization.
• Demonstrate commitment to professional development and scholarship.
• Participate in reviewing existing curriculum.
• Contribute to the goals and activities of the Centre for Business, Arts, and Sciences.

Position Details

Responsibilities of all faculty in the Centre for Business, Arts, and Sciences include:

• Assessing student learning in ways that both facilitate learning and ensure achievement against appropriate academic standards.
• Working collegially within department, School, or College committees and project teams.
• Deliver courses on campus in the face to face classroom setting.
• Contributing to course and program curriculum development and renewal.
• Supporting the success of students with diverse cultural and educational backgrounds and learning styles.
• Delivering courses congruent with established course curricula and program outcomes.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum educational background is a master’s degree in a subject related or closely related to the discipline area, or a combination of related education and professional experience may be considered.
• Post-secondary teaching experience with direct experience of teaching with a curriculum/learning outcomes equivalent to university transfer courses.

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency with learning management systems, online teaching tools, and educational technology.
• Must have a strong commitment to effective teaching and possess a demonstrated ability as well as keen interest to conduct applied and/or scholarly research.

Salary Commensurate with education and experience according to the Faculty Collective Agreement.
