Sourcing Manager - Bilingual English/Mandarin

The Opportunity:

Our client, a Newmarket-based food science organization, is actively searching for a Sourcing Manager to join their growing team. The core responsibility of this role will be to support the growth of the sourcing department and manage the materials requirements planning (MRP) process. Additionally, you will collaborate cross-functionally with numerous teams to evaluate, negotiate, and source ingredients globally.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Collaborate with Logistics to provide up-to-date and detailed information on product availability from suppliers.
• Procure ingredients by collaborating with sales to plan quantities required, release schedules and warehouse inventory targets.
• Develop, maintain, and expand current supplier relationships to minimize costing, while ensuring product quality.
• Communicate with suppliers globally to provide a direct link to the Ingredient Sales teams daily.
• Contribute to organizational effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that could be addressed.
• Collaborate with Sales on demand forecasting and planning methodologies that incorporate both historical trends and current customer information.
• Streamline processes cross functionally by leveraging current the ERP systems to improve cycle time and operational transparency.
• Develop plans by analyzing and interpreting data, making comparable analyses, recommending options, and driving courses of action.
• Develop, maintain, and document processes for determining volume, timing, pricing, and best source of supply.
• Assist Sales and Finance with detailed product cost analysis in order to properly price product to customers.
• Maintain optimal warehouse inventory levels by monitoring historical trends, release schedules, forecasts, capacities, raw material availability and price.
• Update job knowledge by tracking business trends, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
• Monitor customer demand forecasts for all contracts and release schedules to ensure product availability and contract completions.
• Maintain and develop supplier relationships by establishing standard operating procedures, conducting site visits, monitoring compliance, and negotiating prices.
• Identify buying patterns by researching buying activities; inputting buying data and economic indicators.
• Drive purchasing function to ensure quality, cost and uninterrupted supply of key materials and finished goods.
• Lead both MRP and S&OP processes.
• Assist with Quality Control to monitor, update and maintain quality document database.

What You'll Need To Be Successful:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field, and significant relevant work experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook, including strong Excel skills.
• Good oral and written communication with strong emphasis on follow-up and organizational capability.
• Fluent in Mandarin, both oral and written communication.
• Post-secondary education in the construction industry or trades and/or 7+ years Purchasing & Supply Chain Experience.
• Ability to analyze complex data sets and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Familiarity with ERP systems (i.e. Syspro)
• Experience with international transportation terms and procedures.
• Demonstrated product knowledge and strong ability to negotiate with global suppliers.
