What you will be doing

Energy Sourcing Manager is part of the Energy Procurement organization and will lead energy related projects and assist to implement global renewable energy projects for the category energy to realize the strategic objective of net zero CO2 emissions by 2035.

• Develop innovative sources for the procurement of low carbon energy and will make key decisions on the companies with whom we will work with to realize our net-zero commitment.
• Responsible for contracting and follow-up for the purchase of a.o. electricity, natural gas, heat and industrial gases (sign contracts, check invoices, maintain relationships with energy suppliers and transmission system operators, optimize booking of grid capacity, reduce imbalance cost by day ahead forecasting, re-invoicing to other legal entities behind the meter…).
• Responsible to build financial models to evaluate strategic sourcing options and investment opportunities of onsite/offsite generation of green energy.
• Responsible to define and take responsibility of energy and industrial gases related projects that come with the big investments Umicore is making from concept to realization (i.e. projects for the onsite generation of renewable energy and industrial gases and valorizing power flexibility, transport from onsite captured CO2).
• As the subject matter authority, you will represent and defend Umicore's position in various interest groups (both on a national and international level) where renewable energy policies and regulations are discussed in Umicore’s core markets. You will have to inform yourself of policies and regulations in Umicore’s core markets and are aware of the criticality of the position of Umicore in this field.

• Perform as the senior contact person for internal clients and a representative of the energy department, supporting and assisting colleagues in energy related topics.

Who we are looking for

Functional Requirements

• Minimum of 5 – 10 years of relevant experience in industrial environment.
• Master university degree in economics, sciences, or other.
• Fluent in English. Other languages are a plus.
• Strong analytical and conceptualizing skills
• Possess a deep understanding of the energy markets to which Umicore is exposed.
