• ALTERA VICE PRESIDENT (VP) CORPORATE CONTROLLER***

Remote Role / Canada
The VP Corporate Controller is responsible for managing and overseeing Altera's accounting and financial reporting. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of IFRS, as well as experience in financial reporting, and managing financial audits. The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys financial reporting and technical accounting; leading, building, and motivating teams; and challenging the status quo with a focus on continuous improvement and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities:

• Hiring, training, and retaining skilled accounting staff
• Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes
• Coordinating activities with external auditors
• Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
• Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions.
• Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
• Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis.
• Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
• Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
• Manage and mentor a large team of finance professionals, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
• Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results

Qualifications:

• Familiarity with software revenue recognition is preferred.
• Prior experience in public accounting is required, plus a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify trends, patterns, and insights from financial data.
• History of successful performance in a fast-paced, matrix organization, including managing multiple priorities, and delivering results on time.
• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS.
• Minimum of 10 years' progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
• CPA designation is required.
• Experienced at process and systems improvement via a history of leading change management projects.
