Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Finance & Shared Services, the Controller will be responsible for managing our finance department, ownership of the General Ledger, maintaining and improving processes, preparing financial statements and internal/external reporting. The Controller will provide accurate information through analysis, budgeting, forecasting and preparation of financial reports. This position will play an integral role in the finance function of our growing organization.



Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and directing the development of short and long-term strategic financial objectives and in-depth financial analysis
  • Presenting the financial results to the CEO & Executive Team monthly
  • Providing timely and accurate analysis of financial statements, budgets, financial trends, and forecasts
  • Overseeing and managing our accounting and administrative team (team of 8) in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
  • Tracking and reporting on key performance indicators, and producing an assortment of operational reports on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Participating in leadership functions such as hiring, performance reviews and performance management
  • Establishing monthly and annual budgets with capital requirements in conjunction with the leadership team
  • Establishing, maintaining, and enforcing corporate accounting and operational policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Development and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results
  • Liaising with the external audit team and preparing financial statements

Required Education and Competencies

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Managing a team across multiple sites will be considered an asset
  • Advanced analytical skills, coupled with excellent organizational skills
  • Experience in Sage300 or other like sized ERP systems will be considered an asset
  • Current CPA designation
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a progressive management role, leading a high-performing team
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment will be considered an asset
  • Superior proven abilities in Excel and other Microsoft software
