As a pivotal member of our Executive Team, the Controller will report directly to the Co-CEOs, and will be responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with Canadian and international regulations and taxation.

What You'll Do:

As the Controller, you'll be at the heart of our financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and innovation. Your immediate team will include one direct report to help drive financial operational success, with an opportunity to expand the team in the future. Your role will include collaboration with cross-functional teams, both locally and internationally, to drive our strategic vision and foster growth.

The ideal candidate will bring robust accounting and reporting experience to the table, along with an affinity for the fast-paced dynamics of a growing company. They'll also demonstrate resilience, flexibility, and empathy ensuring a strong cultural fit for our team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Mentor and guide our accounting team to new heights.
• Creatively implement and enhance financial controls and processes, mitigating risks and improving efficiency.
• Team up with external auditors for seamless audit processes.
• Generate income and cash flow forecasts to provide valuable insights for key stakeholders.
• Lead financial reporting for our group of companies, crafting accurate and timely financial statements, budgets, and forecasts.
• Provide financial counsel to our leadership team, aligning strategies with financial objectives.
• Champion compliance with global accounting standards and regulations or financial activities in Canada, the US, New Zealand, and other countries.
• Collaborate in coordinating income tax and R&D credit filings across various jurisdictions, working closely with external advisors.
• Oversee intercompany transactions and reconciliations, and transfer pricing policies.
• Engage actively in the Executive team's strategic planning process,encompassing financial modeling.
• Navigate complex international sales taxes with finesse.
• Roll up your sleeves when needed, handling A/R, A/P, reconciliations, partner payments, payroll, and more.

Qualifications:

• Thrive in dynamic environments; experience in tech/SaaS or similar is a major plus.
• Flaunt excellent Excel skills and familiarity with cloud accounting software like Xero and Quickbooks online.
• Showcase 7+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including senior account in a managerial capacity.
• Prior remote work experience is desired as we’re a distributed company
• Hold a CPA designation alongside a minimum Bachelor’s in finance, accounting, or a related field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills shared adeptly across cultures and time zones, fostering collaboration.
• Adapt to the exciting twists and turns of a growing enterprise.
