Reporting to the Director of Finance, your duties will be to manage the day-to-day financial operations of the group of companies and produce accurate full cycle consolidated financial statements including detailed financial analysis and detailed project costing reports.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Ability to assist with day-to-day IT issues at the direction of outsourced IT consultants.
- Monitor cash flow and manage timing of payments across 4 companies
- Assist with various HR functions and manage payrolls.
- Creation of financial models using excel (Power pivot, pivot tables, Vlookup) for job costs reports and budgets and other ad hoc analysis.
- Assist with yearend budget process and quarterly forecast
- Responsible for set up and maintenance of Construction Software.
- Responsible to lead month end close of financial statements using the percentage completion method of accounting.
- Willingness to tackle and resolve a wide range of issues with minimal guidance.
· Participate in the development of and support of the company’s strategic plans
· Monitor the financial performance of the company
· Compile and analyze financial reporting packages
· Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s procedures
· Communicate financial metrics to senior management
- Supervise and provide leadership and support to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and assigned administrative personnel. This is a hands on position as well as supervisory
· Actively involved in helping our company achieve strategic goals and continuous improvement objectives as outlined in the Business Plan
· Develops/maintains/improves timely and accurate information systems which aid in planning, control, and management of the operation
· Provides systems to protect, control, improve return on operation's assets
· Ensures proper statutory reporting and payments
· Acts as liaison with internal and external accountants as required
· Provide overall support specifically to the Management Team and organization
· Provide employee coaching, development and training.
· Other duties as assigned
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- Ability to effectively manage competing priorities in order to meet deadlines;
- Good business acumen and exceptional communication skills, both written and oral;
- Knowledge of Viewpoint software would be an asset; and,
- Proficiency with Excel and Microsoft applications;
- Completion of an accounting designation, preference given to CA, CPA;
- Detail oriented and ability to work both independently and in a group setting;
- 5-7 years of direct experience in a controller role;
- Experience in the construction industry would be considered an asset.
