Job Description

We're looking for a Strategic Business Operations Program Manager (individual contributor role) within the Strategic Business Operations/Program Management organization:


  • To support and own Guidewire’s day-to-day operations,
  • To program manage strategic and operational initiatives.
  • To diagnose, identify bottlenecks, recommend and implement specific solutions to streamline existing operations,


This team member will act as the “glue” to orchestrate the various moving pieces as we innovate and evolve operations.


The successful candidate for this role will have management consulting skills combined with business acumen in enterprise SaaS software operating models, with a working knowledge of software/services concept-to-delivery and operations, and a passion for program management.


You’ll get to work with a variety of functional departments in the company at all levels (C-level to individual contributors) and truly be part of a team to drive the forward momentum at the Company.


The Idea Candidate Will Be Responsible For


  • Program Management
  • Operational Design and Execution


Program Management


  • Assertively lead where necessary but be able to roll up their sleeves and dive into the minutiae and details
  • Lead or partner in change management and enablement activities associated with program rollouts
  • Drive and align cross-functional teams across various disciplines (Product, Cloud Operations, Marketing, Sales, Finance, Support, Services, Customer Success, etc.), who may have competing priorities toward common goals and outcomes
  • Proactively identify and escalate issues and obstacles to successful program implementation
  • Work deliverables including but not limited to: executive and operational dashboards, program plans, risk logs, program status presentations, etc.
  • Plan and manage prioritization and report program updates to executive stakeholders and project team members


Operational Design and Execution


  • Operational Implementation: Lead or partner in change management and enablement activities associated with implementations. Engage leadership and stakeholders to obtain support and buy in for changes. Champion improvement efforts and a continual improvement culture. Partner with management, project champions, and process owners to align improvement initiatives with business objectives.
  • Operational Recommendations: Interview stakeholders and process owners for business and process requirements. Understand impact analyses for highly complex processes. Negotiate final requirements and mediate impacts across all stakeholders. Share accountability for realization of results with process owners and present recommendations to stakeholders and process owners
  • Performance Management & Control: Define, develop and evaluate performance metrics to establish process success, including working with multiple stakeholders, often with competing/conflicting objectives, to ensure cohesive and reachable measures of success
  • Research: Research best practices to develop recommendations on appropriate solutions


Who You Are


  • Strong conceptual thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • BA/BS with 8+ years relevant project/program management and/or operations/business process experience
  • A keen interest in innovative technology and the Insurtech/insurance industry (but previous experience not necessary)
  • Management consulting experience preferred – we want people who are agile and can adapt with changing scope/requirements as necessary
  • Self-starter who is comfortable wading in various degrees of ambiguity
  • Working knowledge of technical stack, ideally with SaaS background
  • Finally, a “can do” attitude that nothing is too big or too small to take on
  • Excellent Google Workspace (e.g., Sheets, Slides) or MS Office suite skills (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge of project management tools or other work planning and productivity tools such as Jira as Confluence is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to ask probing questions to drive the conversation and thinking forward
  • Functional experience with business operations (e.g., New Product Introduction / Launch, Quote-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay)
  • Proven experience working with interdisciplinary teams to launch programs or new processes
  • Able to handle the minutia and details of project management (including documentation, note taking, risk logging, screen sharing, etc.), while keeping the big picture in mind
