Overview


The Senior Manager, P&L Management and Analysis contributes to the success of Global Business Payments through a dedicated focus on operational efficiency and accuracy in expense and client rebate processing, expense results analysis, process management and ensuring that all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.


What You'll Do


  • Act as subject-matter-expert for the forecasting and planning team providing guidance and support in line with quarterly and annual cycles.
  • Provide on-going support to the Director on communications and consolidation of the GBP P&L, articulating the value proposition of the wider business and showcasing the business' alignment with all-bank strategy.
  • Work directly with Business Line Finance partners (Canadian Banking, Global Banking and Markets, International Banking) to communicate GBP's expense results and key business drivers to executives in a concise yet informed manner.
  • Lead a team in charge of day-to-day processing of vendor invoices for services rendered to the business and our customers, commercial card rebate programs, month-end accrual procedures and managing senior executive escalation requirements in line with policies and procedures.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
  • Engage with partners in back and middle office to efficiently review and escalate service issues or errors that require customer credits or debits for remediation, likewise within the approved escalation framework, and liaise with Strategic Pricing team for resolution.
  • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and, managing succession and development planning for the team.
  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and primacy, and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Manage annual business line allocation surveys and continuous review of the GBP value proposition to the business lines, ensuring costs are allocated to Business Lines appropriately.


What You'll Bring


  • General knowledge of global payments trends and emerging payments technologies
  • 5+ years of experience in the banking industry, preferably transaction banking and cash management.
  • Experience covering quarterly and monthly financial reporting cycles and associated deadlines (preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal; experience and comfort presenting to large groups and executive level management both digitally and in person.
  • Applies superior conflict management skills and expertise to persuade and negotiate effectively
  • Ability to clearly articulate and communicate complex business concepts associated with the payment's domain
  • Strong SQL, Excel and Word skills.


Work Arrangement


  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel domestically.
