Senior Manager, Workplace Health & Wellness
Salary: $72,205 - $130,012
Are you looking to join an amazing team where you can make an impact, drive excellence in health, safety, and wellbeing, and lead the Disability Management portfolio at the LCBO?
Reporting to the Senior Director, Workplace Wellness & Safety (WWS), the Senior Manager, Workplace Health and Wellness directs the LCBO's disability management program. You will work with LCBO resources to address complex issues pertaining to claims, and accommodation of physical and mental health / psychological disabilities. You will also apply expertise and insight to develop, execute and manage the delivery of progressive Health and Wellness programs within the LCBO by ensuring appropriate initiatives, policies, standards, projects, and training are implemented and maintained, considering industry leading practices and legislated requirements. Working with the Senior Director; Senior Manager, Corporate Safety; team members and stakeholders to develop strategies, policies and approaches that position the LCBO as a leader in workplace health and wellness, as well as reduce time lost, and improve productivity, employee morale, and the LCBO’s customer experience.

About The Role
  • Ensures that witness statements, investigation reports, medical records, attendance, and salary data are provided to representatives such as WSIB staff, adjudicators, members, and Legal Counsel.
  • Maintains and updates health and safety policies based on relevant legislation, such as WSIB and AODA, Ontario Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act to educate and train staff
  • Preparation and monitoring of budgets for the team and related programs.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Manager, Corporate Safety to develop educational packages and presentations, such as Accident Investigation Procedures, for Managers, District Managers, Regional Directors, and Warehouses to assist line management in handling WSIB claims.
  • Provides advice and support on LCBO health and wellness initiatives by liaising with other divisions, such as Retail Operations and Supply Chain and Wholesale.
  • Oversees and make recommendations for improvements to the Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP) to ensure a high level of quality and consistent service for employees.
  • Development and implementation of the LCBO’s health and wellness strategy and related programs considering industry leading approaches and organizational needs to reduce absenteeism, increase the health, productivity, and engagement of LCBO staff, and subsequently improve customer experiences.
  • Oversees administration of LCBO accommodation policy and guidelines ensuring compliance and facilitating discussions between internal stakeholders for complex accommodation cases.
  • Manages day-to-day health related projects and activities, including development and implementation of programs, such as a mental health awareness program
  • Manages the day-to-day relationship with a third party vendor in addressing service levels and ensuring service delivery is consistent with LCBO culture.
  • Management of direct reports by assigning work, setting schedules, and identifying appropriate individual goals aligned with individual capabilities, work requirements, and the LCBO’s vision and strategic plans.
  • Manages talent and financial resources to ensure they are being used effectively, including:
  • Recommend and reviews business case for, and authorizes, third party vendor discretionary service expenditures for Functional Capacity Assessments, Independent Medical Assessments etc.
About You
  • Knowledge of WSIB adjudicative processes.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license and willingness to travel throughout the province with overnight stays.
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
  • Investigative and analytical skills to review Workplace Safety and Insurance claims and data.
  • Good knowledge of the principles of industrial hygiene and ergonomics.
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety field, including relevant legislation such as Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, Workplace Safety, and Insurance Act, OHRC, AODA, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of disability management and workplace wellness best practices.
  • 5 years of experience advising on health and wellness related programs and policies in the field of occupational health and safety, preferably in a unionized environment.
