Position: Sales Practicum
Company: UNIGLOBE Specialty Travel DBA Discover Canada Tours
Work Period: Minimum of three months and up to six months
Requirements: Valid work permit (i.e. internship visa, working holiday visa etc.), good English language skills (oral & written)
Company Description: Discover Canada Tours & West Trek Tours are divisions of UNIGLOBE Specialty Travel Ltd. Our primary objective is to provide affordable travel programs that will enable ESL and international students, as well as visitors to Vancouver and the lower mainland, to learn more about Canada, practice their English, meet new people; and most importantly, have fun! While under continuous development, our travel program primarily comprises tours to the Rocky Mountains, Tofino, Victoria and Whistler.
Overview: This is an unpaid practicum position. We are looking for people to join our team with a great personality, a passion for travel, and a commitment to excellence. Our objective is to provide a great work environment, one that fosters professional and personal development. At Discover Canada Tours, we offer practicum students the opportunity to work in the fun and exciting industry of tourism, where they can meet and travel with people from all over the world! You will gain experience specifically within the area of Tour Sales, also touching on Operations, Marketing, Promotions, Accounting, and Business Administration.
Specific Job Duties include
Sales
● Product Knowledge – Become familiar with DCT’s various brands and offerings, understand and demonstrate key selling points on all products
● Visit company clients, namely ESL schools, to actively sell and promote upcoming tours, events and activities, including running a remote sales desk and executing in-school pop-up activities and promotional events
● Bookings – Learn our booking systems and be able to take bookings and payments on a wide variety of our products
● Presentations – Assist in preparing and delivering sales presentations to potential clients
● Building and maintaining relationships with key business partners
● Exude leadership and enthusiasm; always speak English to communicate with others!
Operations
● General Office Duties – Help answer the phone, make bookings, and do anything else as required by the operations/sales team
● Support Operations Team – Support operations team with tour preparations and logistics as needed
Special Events and Activities
● Assist in the organization and implementation of special events and activities
● Promote, distribute and sell tickets (e.g. Boat Cruises and Theme Parties) Tour Assistance
● On-Tour: assist the tour guide and guests, participate and engage, and take photos /videos to be used in promotional efforts!
Other Duties
● Accounting: Process credit card payments and ensure accuracy within the booking system
● Data input and other responsibilities as required by Office Administration
● Office duties, reception, photocopying, customer service, member bookings, payments etc.
● Customer Service: Be friendly! Say “Hi” to people as they walk by. Take the initiative to go above and beyond!

● Skills: strong customer service skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adaptability, active listening, relationship management
