Job Description

Vancouver Ready Mix (VRM) is an independent, B.C. owned and operated ready-mix concrete supply company that is widely known for outstanding service, on time delivery of concrete in Vancouver and B.C., expertise in major commercial, civic, sub-division, and custom engineered projects as well as specialty concrete for residential projects. VRM is also a certified plant with the BC Ready Mix Concrete Association.


We are looking for a team member to fill the position ofSales Representative. Reporting to the General Manager, as a Sales Representative, you have a service-oriented mindset, highly professional approach, and play a key role in maximizing company profitability. You will work closely with Customers, Operations, Quality, and the Management team to understand and monitor market needs, to drive and achieve sales targets.

What You’ll Do:

  • Present to engineers, municipalities and contractors as required
  • Cultivate sales opportunities and business relationships
  • Liaise between the customer and all internal operations on the progress of sales orders, deliveries, and collections
  • Perform site visits to estimate concrete needs for projects, contract drawings and specifications for quotation purposes
  • Respond to customer needs by providing technical support, standard quotations, and written proposals based on customer needs and specifications
  • Ensure residential and commercial sales growth for VRM in the Lower Mainland
  • Provide written and verbal quotations for other modified and customized mix designs, as required by customer
  • Execute and follow through on sales plans
  • Participate in all product, sales, technical and regulatory requirements and training to acquire and maintain knowledge standard within the industry
  • Demonstrate professionalism and continually work to develop a safe and respectful workplace by promoting safety, collaboration, innovation, and engagement
  • Monitor the market and keep market intelligence information up to date


Your knowledge and experience include:

  • Knowledge or experience working with concrete, an asset
  • Valid class 5 British Columbia Drivers License
  • Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • 3+ years in a sales, or business development type role, preferred
  • Understanding of how to manage customer relationships and market dynamics
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years construction or construction material experience
  • Demonstrated strong application user skills for MS Office Suite of products including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint at intermediate level, experience in utilizing systems and tools to improve sales performance
  • Ability to maintain composure in dealing with difficult situations; demonstrate positive customer service attitude
  • Strong time management skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong leadership and self-motivation skills


Working Conditions:

  • Primarily day shifts. Overtime, evenings, and weekends as required.After work hours may be required to meet deadlines, including attending events to build customer relationships and enhance VRM’s industry exposure
  • Inside and outside sales. Will require some local travel around the Lower Mainland visiting sites, clients and customers to meet sales targets and service customers
