The role

The role of the Infrastructure Systems Analyst is to provide infrastructure and database implementation, maintenance and support for the Company’s systems.

What you bring to the position

Education

·College diploma or university degree in computer science, information systems, or computer engineering.

·Certifications in Citrix, Microsoft infrastructure would be an asset

Experience

·5 years work experience in the Insurance industry is an asset

·Solid and proven records of knowledge of the following:

oActive Directory,

oCitrix,

oNetworking,

oMicrosoft Exchange,

oMicrosoft Office Products,

oWeb applications and SQL

·Excellent communication and interaction skills to understand and deliver on schedule and business requirements

Attributes

·Good written and oral communication skills.

·Good presentation and interpersonal skills.

·Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.

·Bilingual French and English would be an asset.

What you will do

Operational Tasks – Operational tasks may involve a combination of one or more of these tasks on a daily basis:reviewing, monitoring, maintenance (updates, upgrades), troubleshooting issues, installing and configuring new services or connectivity, decommissioning old services, and support.

·Review system performancememory usage, system paging, CPU usage, database size, database fine tuning

·Perform / monitor daily, weekly and monthly back up and Replication

·Create/update file systems, scripts, batch files

·Provide user support on their windows applications and tools (printing, browsing, passwords, performance, connectivity, etc)

·Run system and database integrity diagnostics

Infrastructure:

·2 Fujitsu servers running UNIX operating systems

·12+ other virtual servers running either Linux or Windows servers all connected to GIS.

·Support provided to IS team, ICPEI staff, third party connections (CGI, Applied Systems, Trans Union,, SAP,Oracle, etc.)

·Applications:PowerBuilder, web applications, JBOSS, Sybase, Sybase Replication, , Source control, all GIS custom applications, Apache, building applications, ASE

Hours of Work:

·Implementation of changes to production systems are performed at night or over the weekends because we cannot allow users to connect and make changes to the data during the implementation.

·Implementation of changes to QA and Dev environments can be done during office hours.

·Help and support users with their day to day technical issues (i.e. set users, reset passwords, fix printing, troubleshoot connectivity issues, troubleshoot performance issues, etc.)Tips: Provide a summary of the role, what success in the position looks like, and how this role fits into the organization overall.
