IT and Security Department

The Vantage Data Centers IT and Security department is very involved in the field. In most cases, we determine, purchase and configure all network hardware and servers, and we take care of its maintenance. We also work in partnership with our suppliers to stay informed of the latest technological changes, so that we can make informed purchasing decisions. The IT department is always looking for ways to achieve the best possible balance between technology, performance and costs. Vantage IT also participates in the design of each network infrastructure for our new data centers, which includes, but is not limited to: various diversified routes connected to carriers, interconnect rooms, server rooms (cabinets, cable shelf, interconnection panels, etc.), wireless coverage, etc. If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves and helping to design, build and maintain IT infrastructure in a modern data center, come work at Vantage. Main duties

• Perform tasks in accordance with customer service level agreements
• Facilitate data center commissioning operations
• React appropriately in the event of system maintenance or complications
• Install, support and manage the network monitoring system using SolarWinds
• Develop and configure Windows servers (2012 and newer servers) in a VMware virtual environment
• Take care of the management of Active Directory 2019, Azure AD, Office 365 and Skype for Business Online
• Manage VMware 6.x virtual environment with Brocade switches and Tegile storage equipment
• Oversee the commissioning of the automation system to ensure the data center maintains the best possible performance
• Fulfill other mandates that the management team may assign from time to time
• Communicate with internal data center design and construction teams to support growing data center infrastructure needs
• Provide troubleshooting service to users, both locally and remotely
• Support and monitor vendor activities to ensure work activities fall within the scope of work and follow established procedures
• Use your past experience writing and automating administrative tasks
• Manage, support and maintain Vantage's IT infrastructure
• Design, manage and test IT backup and disaster recovery
• Document all critical developments, all lessons to be learned from past experiences, and find possible efficiency gains in processes
• Help develop and implement standard operating procedures

Requirements

• Linux Ubuntu and CentOs
• Experience in network design and configuration, with routers, switches and firewalls
• Ability to lift 50 lbs, and ability to move loads greater than 50 lbs with appropriate equipment or the assistance of another person
• Travel estimated at less than 10% of time worked, but may exceed this estimate during the first 6 months in office
• Proficient in fiber optic interconnections, testing and network construction
• Data center experience, a major asset (but not a must)
• Knowledge of Office 365, monitoring systems and SQL databases
• Bachelor of Science, or equivalent professional experience, in the field of information technology, a must
• 6 years of experience in IT, a must, and 8 years or more, an asset
• In-depth skills with VMware, MS servers and networking a must
