Mount Pleasant Group of Cemeteries is a not-for-profit organization that has been caring for families in the GTA since 1826. We operate ten cemeteries, nine funeral centres and four cremation centres, all serving the distinct needs of the local communities where they are located. We are looking for HR Generalist to join our HR team at our Head Office located in East York.
We offer:

The successful candidate will be required to:
Recruiting:
- Update employee files
- Collate data for tracking and reports
- Provide support with employee onboarding, and orientation
- Help manage job postings across multiples sites and the MPG Career Centre
- Maintain and update union seniority lists
- Screen and schedule candidates for interviews
- Conduct reference checks, and background checks
- Provide support to the Recruiter for casual roles, and seasonal recruitment
- Maintain candidate pools for casual roles
Benefits:

- Coordinate the annual policy Health & Safety sign offs
- Facilitate the service award program, issue monthly service awards, liaise with the award vendor, manage invoicing
- Administer the MPG Computer Loan Program
- Provide support to the Employee Benefits & Wellness Specialist on wellness initiatives
Health Safety:
- Develop, maintain and communicate reports of workplace injury and incident data
- Assist with Health and Safety Orientation (i.e. site level support), where possible.
- Work collaboratively with staff and departments, and act as a resource to provide general advice and guidance to management, employees and joint occupational health and safety committees.
Administrative Support:
- Update various human resource reports such as the Consumer Price Index report.
- Other sundry duties as assigned
- Maintain and update employee digital files and hard files
- Review, update, and maintain corporate HR policies.
- Conduct research, prepare reports, correspondence, and presentations in regard to various HR functions
Hours/Days of Work:
- 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday
- Occasional overtime may be required due to business needs
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of various Federal and Provincial employment laws and regulations such as Human Rights, ESA, AODA, OHSA, etc.
- At least three years’ of progressive human resource experience
- Strong team player with the ability to work with various departments
- Adaptability, flexibility and agility to multi-task and prioritize.
- Experience working with ADP Workforce Now is an asset
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Degree / Diploma in Human Resources or other related disciplines; or equivalent combination of work experience, training and education
- Experience working in a unionized environment an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; team player
- Intermediate proficiency of Windows and MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
- CHRP designation would all be an asset
- Able to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
