Facilities General Manager

As a Facilities General Manager, you will plan, manage, and guide multiple contracted services to meet the operating and financial goals of the educational institutional requirements and objectives. This position supports four (4) Higher Education Campus facilities and an on campus logistical service operation by providing custodial and internal maintenance services. This is a 24/7 unionized employee environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Manages the client and community relationships at the locations, continually assessing operations, and developing plans to provide optimal service to drive client satisfaction
• Recommends methods, resources, and implementation for service improvement and growth based on operational needs and capabilities
• Manages compliance with all local, provincial and federal regulations and codes and maintains all associated records and reports
• In partnership with Finance, manages a budget, and assists in the design of improvements to optimize financial performance and operational productivity
• Leads a team of 5 Campus Facility managers and provides operational expertise in contracted services while providing hands-on execution management of operations
• Builds, develops and leads a team and staff capable of meeting organizational objectives

Qualifications

• Ability to achieve goals against KPI’s and SLA’s that have been committed to the client
• Meaningful experience in service industry, contract services, or hospitality environment
• Savvy interpersonal skills to communicate with clients and all levels of management and staff
• Experience in creating and managing a department budget, financial controls, and analysis
• Experience crafting and implementing operational programs and initiatives
• Bachelor’s degree in Facilities, Hospitality, Business Management, or related field
• Experience working with a unionized workforce is preferred
• Ability to focus on client services, entrepreneurship, building and growing a strong business
• Proven ability leading through other managers is essential

This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
