This is a great opportunity to lead the Acquisition squad, which is responsible to help people understand the Rakuten Rewards’ value proposition and make them successful members of the Rewards platform through Partnerships, SEM, SEO, RAF and Social Media channels.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee an exceptional group of engineers with a strong team-oriented culture.
• Attract, excite, and retain a team of best-in-class engineers.
• Join a great group of motivated, top-notch, people and work with them to solve challenging
• Contribute to the vision, goals, and technical strategy in alignment with stakeholder needs and market opportunities
• Builds trust and transparency within team and with stakeholders
• Mentor the professional development of each direct report through personal and performance management and coaching.

Minimum Requirements

• Experience with Relational databases, queries, and RDBMS best practices as a consumer
• Experience with any of these technologies a HUGE plus: ElasticSearch, Spark, Kafka, Cloud (AWS or Google Cloud)
• Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
• Strong knowledge of at least some of the following frameworks/technologies – Java/Python, Hibernate, Spring, REST, XML, Kafka, NodeJs, ReactJs, GraphQL
• Ability to work in a fast paced Agile development and rapid deployment in the Cloud/SaaS environment.
• Experience with tools and technologies like Gradle, Maven, Jenkins, git, IntelliJ, GitHub Actions, Docker to support end to end software development
• Proven ability to build and maintain a high-quality, high intelligence engineering team.
• Strong knowledge of design patterns, OOPS principles and data structures

Qualification Requirements

• An inspirational technical leader with a high emotional intelligence who sets high standards and demands the best work of their team. Team-oriented, collaborative, and able to implement important decisions.
• 7+ years of solid Java back-end experience & still hands on for design and coding
• 3+ years of progressive management leadership experience directing high visibility initiatives
• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field
• Able to effectively communicate across teams and roles.

At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the base salary for this role will be between $137,400 - $185,000. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location. The successful applicant for this role will be eligible for discretionary bonus, health, vision, dental insurance, 401k matching, PTO, Volunteer Time Off (VTO), and other employee benefits as the company implements.
