Community and Family Engagement


Coordinator (Parent Advocacy) Permanent Part Time


COMPETITION NUMBER: C/E 23-01-30


HOURS OF WORK: 28 Hours/Week (Monday- Thursday)


START DATE/TERM: Immediately


REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Community Support and Prevention


Position Summary


Provide leadership for a range of initiatives within the agency and in the community to support local leadership development and community engagement; enhance service user engagement with Macaulay and enhance opportunities for family engagement and network building. Provide information, resources and support for parents connected to Community Programs on a range of different topics.


Responsibilities


  • Use a variety of strategies to increase community engagement.
  • Provide support to families through the process of referrals and submitting applications including but not limited to: Ontario Autism Program, Speech and Language, Behaviour and Occupational Therapy services
  • Participate in Agency and/or community task forces, committees, and /or work groups as needed.
  • Coordinate and facilitate workshops with other Macaulay programs and community partner agencies to reach and meet the needs of families, including high risk/isolated families
  • Maintain accurate and complete program statistics and records and prepare reports as required.
  • Develop and maintain service navigation tool for all Community Programs channel
  • Implement strategies to develop and support family engagement and network building.
  • Create content, lead and facilitate in-person parent workshops.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to Macaulay staff on how to increase engagement of services users in agency/program processes.
  • Attend Early ON programs on a daily basis and provide support, and guidance to Early ON staff on an as needed basis
  • Maintain documentation of processes and activities.
  • Develop and foster strong relationships with Macaulay families through weekly parent support groups, and in-person check ins at various Early ON sites.


Qualifications


  • Computer literacy required together with proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite, Internet and email.
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues related to working with marginalized low-income, and newcomer neighborhoods.
  • Access to a vehicle is required.
  • Minimum Bachelor’s level degree with 3 to 5 years of social work, adult education and/or community development work experience or related work experience.
  • Acceptable Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
  • Ability to work all shifts. Day, evening and weekend hours as required.
  • Strong background in group facilitation and community engagement practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective work partnerships with families, colleagues and service providers of diverse backgrounds, abilities and identities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in more than one language an important asset.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize.
  • Proof of full vaccination status against COVID-19.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication and listening skills.
  • Strong understanding of teamwork and independent practice with the ability to work effectively to contribute to high performing teams.


SALARY: Community Engagement Coordinator Salary Scale ($57,694- $62,071 per annum) (starting at $31.70/hour) with Competitive Benefits Package (health & dental), Define Pension plan, and paid time off entitlements (starting at 20 vacation days & 3 float days.)
