The Communications and Engagement Specialist is a Toronto-based position reporting to the Senior Manager, Communications and Public Affairs of the Canadian Beverage Association.
This is a hybrid role with the expectation of one workday per week in person.

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Leads the assessment and installation of an appropriate Association Management System (AMS), as well as monitoring and providing relevant feedback on the member interface the overall functionality of the system.
- Monitors social media analytics and create reports detailing the successes and failures of communication items, campaigns and strategies.
- Assists the association team in developing and implementing a communications strategy designed to further association objectives.
- Provides creative content and layout for designs of member updates, newsletters, magazine content and webinar information.
- Publish daily “In the News” media monitoring email to CBA membership.
- Assists CBA President to develop and execute strategies to attract new members to the Canadian Beverage Association.
- Assists with other external and internal communications duties as needed.
- Leads design services in the update, and development of the new CBA website and member portal.
- Takes a lead role in the newsletter layout, content and distribution.
- Writes a variety of different content to support communications and marketing efforts, including newsletters, website copy, social media posts, and press releases.
- Stays up to date on industry trends and make recommendations for adjustments to communications strategies and practices.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS – EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
- Have a demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with and support executives, particularly relating to content development and distribution, and in helping to develop nascent, complex programs.
- Proficiency in social media platforms and social media management tools.
- Have exceptional attention to detail, time management and general thoroughness for managing multiple projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in communications, social media management, or related roles in an association, think tank, Minister’s office, company, crown corporation, government department or government relations agency.
- Tact, discretion, and the ability to use sound judgment when dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
- Be experienced in a collaborative setting, where open dialogue, exchanges of ideas, and the ability to accept feedback are essential.
It would be a strong asset for a candidate to have:
- Prior association or member-relations experience.
- Design capabilities using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and video editing software.
- Event planning experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both of Canada’s official languages.
- Strong customer service orientation.
