Ontario Line South
Our team is mobilizing its design and construction crews, with major works to commence in 2023. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.
The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.
What is the project?
  • A six-kilometre tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River)
  • Stations:
  • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations
  • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station
  • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown.
The Benefits to Ontario?
  • Reducing crowding on the existing Line 1 (Yonge-University) subway
  • Up to 57,000 more jobs will be accessible by transit (in 45 minutes or less) for Toronto residents

Ontario Transit Group – Southern Civils, Stations, and Tunnels Project – Ontario Line Subway
The Manager will participate in the building of a team dedicated to fulfilling the communications requirements of the Project. The responsibilities of the Manager and the Team include:
  • Participation in various procurement processes for property and construction communications and related photography and videography
  • Participation in the development of materials for trade shows
  • Participate in regular internal meetings and working groups with OTG teams and with contracting authority concerning communications and public engagement strategies and materials for print, digital or social media formats (e.g., fact sheets, construction notices, advertisements, digital/copy writing, blogs, newsletters, presentations, signage, Q&A, community letters, etc.)
  • Ongoing contributions to internal communications activities by assisting with management of Human Resources communications related requirements
  • Submission of regular written materials noting progress on the Project.
  • Organization of data and maintenance of databases related to property communications activities.
  • Engagement with construction management, safety, and quality teams to ensure details of construction activities are well known and a fulsome calendar managed and the communications requirements that follow are fulfilled.
  • Development of communications materials and public notices related to specific construction activities such as geo-technical investigations, demolitions, road closures, etc.
  • Development of strategies that will assist property owners and businesses before, during and after construction activities.
  • Attendance and participation at public and stakeholder meetings and the various consultation committees and working groups that support the Project.
  • Direct, in-person meetings with property owners to ensure needs of constructor are met, helping to reach agreement on the need for surveying, monitoring, encroachments, protection of private property, etc.
  • Development of presentation materials and participation in consultations and discussions that will best help property owners and communities during Project.
Qualifications
Qualifications
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and experience with Customer Relationship Management Systems.
  • Willingness to share different perspectives to contribute to new ways to go beyond expectations.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail with solid problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective delegation and organizational skills required to ensure issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, Political Science, Psychology or related field.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in managing/working in teams involved in both property and/or construction communications and engagement, public relations, business or government relations
  • Knowledge of communications planning is required.
  • Proven stakeholder management, negotiation, and relationship building skills.
  • Knowledge of a large construction projects and property management is an asset.
  • Business Planning and Project Management: Demonstrates ability to schedule and prioritize work and bring projects in on time and on budget.
  • Strong written, verbal, editorial, and presentation skills, with a positive results and education driven approach.
  • Project management experience with the demonstrated ability to balance multiple initiatives, effectively prioritizing to execute strategies/plans and associated activities/tactics on time and on budget in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
  • Strong business acumen and results driven approach.
