International Accounting Manager
Location: Toronto, CN
SUMMARY
Develop, maintain, and insure the integrity of monthly financials, ensure compliance with tax related matters, and report and analyze results of various internal activities to the satisfaction of internal managers and external auditors. Manage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoicing functions of all Canadian companies and offices.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as supervisor of the general ledger functions
- Include special analysis as requested, as well as to creatively apply own analysis to point out various data relationships, trends, or opportunities
- Monitor fund requirements for various Canadian offices and facilitate cash transfers
- Collaborate with the payroll department for regulatory requirements and financial impacts arising from changes in policies
- Review, prepare, and analyze various monthly financial and management reports
- Review and approve general ledger account reconciliations monthly and quarterly
- Oversee the preparation of all corporate federal, provincial, sales and property tax returns, and other tax filings as well as other tax research
- Ensure employee development by completing annual performance review on or before the due date, ensure that goals are set and agreed upon for the next year, and complete annual salary increases prior to the effective date
- Monitor and evaluate employee's performance against goals and performance standards
- Oversee the company collection processes and procedures for accounts receivable
- Keep corporate accounting informed on any non-standard transactions
- Responsible for scheduling and ensuring that the monthly general ledger is closed timely and within expectations

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages work of others in functional areas such as, the general ledger, invoicing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Chartered Accountant or Certified General Accountant preferred, but not required.
Must have computer literacy, including basic programming, word processing, spreadsheet skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Office software package.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
