Job Summary

Manage day to day core Accounting & Compliance matters for Canadian legal entities.

Reports directly to the Director, Finance/VP of Finance

Interacts regularly with the FP&A/Corporate Reporting & Consolidations team as well as leads from all areas of the business (Legal, HR, IT, etc) on matters relating to Corporate Accounting & Compliance

Other peer relationships - Global Finance Team members

Staff size approx. 4-6 FTE; some unionized

Responsibilities

• Month-end close for Canada - including key account monthly reconciliations performed by team
• Supports the team with the annual external audit
• Oversight of general accounting for Canadian entities; monthly journal entries, payroll, A/P (approvals for payments)
• Responsible for the completion of the annual pension plan financial statements and supporting HR with annual filings
• Balance sheet analysis for Canadian legal entities
• Represents Finance on certain committees (mainly internal)
• Co-ordination and preparation of local tax information for the tax team
• Management of team in Toronto Corporate office;
• Works with manager on matters pertaining to internal controls and internal audit

Education & Experience

• Be proficient with Word processing/use of Excel
• University degree in accounting & finance
• Minimum of 5-7 years of business experience in accounting & finance
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS desirable) and accounting systems (Workday & SAP desirable)
• CA/CPA designated

Work Environment

• May be asked to travel occasionally as needed (rare and likely only within North America)
• Expected to work from the office majority of the time (as of June 2023, the team is working on 3 day week minimum at the office)
