Job Title: Accounting Manager

Reports To: Controller

Reporting directly to the Controller, this position will be responsible for having oversight over accounts receivable, treasury, prepaids and fixed assets This individual will support the month-end closing process and assist in preparation of the monthly and quarterly financial information to both internal and external parties. Review journal entries and reconciliations for areas responsible ensuring appropriate accounting treatment to avoid year-end audit exposure. Review and prepare schedules under direction from the Controller to meet all company reporting requirements.

Description of Job Responsibilities:

• Work with the A/R, A/P and Treasury teams to ensure proper cash application and reporting of cash related transactions.
• Review the bank reporting requirements to ensure complete and timely reporting.
• Perform control review of customer changes.
• Act as a financial business partner to stakeholders, utilizing enhanced communication skills to build relationships and acquire necessary information and data to achieve functional goals.
• Other duties as required.
• Prepare and/or review audit schedules as required during annual audit, working with external auditors on requirements.
• Review and approve monthly journal entries and reconciliations for areas responsible during month-end close process to ensure accuracy of month end results.
• Complete quarterly reporting to parent company.
• Continuous process re-engineering of existing accounting processes and procedures to eliminate non-value added activities, reduce processing time and eliminate manual intervention.
• Responsible for annual impairment analysis.
• Oversee the tracking and accounting of leases for IFRS 16 purposes.
• Work closely with all departments to ensure that financial transactions are properly recorded.
• Prepare and maintain the cash forecasting analysis to be reviewed by Controller and
• Establish and implement controls where required in areas of responsibility to ensure appropriate protection of company assets and accurate reporting of financials.

Essential Requirements and Qualifications:

• Strong experience with month-end and year-end close processes.
• ERP implementation experience beneficial.
• CPA designated.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS.
• Retail experience is an asset
• Strong attention to detail with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
• AS400 and/or Microsoft Dynamics experience is an asset
• Degree in Accounting/Finance or the equivalent, 3+ years general accounting and management experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced Excel user.
