Filion Wakely Thorup Angeletti LLP is a leading management labour and employment law firm. We are currently seeking an intermediate level Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable (AP/AR) clerk. The AP/AR clerk role is an excellent career enhancement opportunity for a finance/accounting professional to gain significant work experience at a fast paced professional services firm. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Finance Manager and will be responsible for the firm’s payable and receivable functions. This position is a hybrid role and will offer the option to work from home one day a week after the initial training and probationary period.
Key Responsibilities
- Scanning/saving of all AP invoices
- Communicate with clients and partners via email and phone
- Prepare payments (EFT, wire, cheque) for approval in accordance with AP cycle
- Posting and processing of expense reports
- Other duties/projects as assigned
- Management of Accounts Payable including but not limited to:
- Coordinate with the Billings team to ensure prompt billing of third party client disbursements
- Research and resolve payment discrepancies
- Reconcile and post firm credit card charges
- Accurate posting of all vendor invoices and client disbursements
- Posting of expense recoveries
- Accounts receivable monitoring and proactive follow up in accordance with firm policy
- Preparation of weekly status reports and other reports as requested
Qualifications
- Effective time management skills with ability to prioritize and multitask
- Strong sense of task ownership and attention to detail
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with executive level professionals
- Minimum 3 years experience working in a professional services firm (preferably legal)
- Sound reasoning and understanding of AP/AR principles is mandatory
- Bookkeeping or Accounting certification
- Proficient understanding of Microsoft Office including Excel
- A resourceful self-starter, with a proven ability to work independently
