MISSION / SUMMARY:
The Logistics Warehouse Logistic Manager supervises and coordinates the day-to-day shift activities of the Shipping and Receiving Department, by providing leadership and supervision to Shipping and Receiving employees. This individual serves as a link between plant and Customer Service Advocate Representatives and partner carriers as well as the link between direct reports and middle / upper management. They understand and align business operations and Logistics as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
- Shares an obligation to protect and strengthen Graphic Packaging International’s good reputation in our relationships with customers, employees, suppliers, competitors, investors, and governmental agencies, and to act consistently with our core values: Integrity, Respect, Accountability, Relationships, and Teamwork.
- Communicate issues with Customer Service Advocate Representatives.
- Oversees movement of incoming and outgoing materials / product at plant and external warehouse including raw materials, finished goods, scrap, and plant supplies.
- Facilitates team meetings, intervenes as necessary to keep the team’s goals and results consistent with company direction, and works with the team members to develop their full potential through continuous training.
- Studies shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
- Communicates customer shipping requirements to scheduling and material handlers.
- Works with employees to maintain a safe work environment. Leads and supports subordinates to work in a safe manner and to seek improvements in work practices.
- Communicates with carrier representative to make arrangements and to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials, including pickup and delivery times, damages, shortages, and nonconformance to specifications.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Will deliver or route materials to departments using work devices such as hand truck, fork truck, or roll clamp.
- Oversees daily audits of product movement and inventory location to ensure accuracy.
- Provides subordinates with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems. Resolves grievances or submits unsettled disputes to management.
- Weekend rotation – plans coverage for scheduling and logistics.
- Oversees incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
- Maintains corrugate inventory and orders daily based on production needs.
- Ensures that Health & Safety and SQF standards are maintained.
- Administer, communicate, and interprets work procedures and company policies to subordinates.
- Initiates and conducts progressive disciplinary actions and validates payroll.
- Must adhere to Graphic Packaging International’s Commitment to SQF (Safe Quality Foods) and HACCP Requirements, Food Safety, and Food Defense, GMP and supports all Health and Safety programs.
- Confers and corresponds with Graphic Packaging’s centralized services and logistic groups.
- Researches, compiles, and prepares reports, correspondence, and other information pertaining to incoming and outgoing shipments, as well as, identifies and resolves report discrepancies or errors.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:
- Professional oral and written communication skills
- On call scheduling resource outside normal work hours
- Computer Skills: SAP, MS Office, and database programs
- Organized
- Self-starter
- Previous supervisory experience in unionized environments preferred
- Detail oriented
- Leadership Skills - ability to motivate people to perform at high levels
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:
- Degree in related field and/or equivalent experience in a converting facility is preferred.
- High School Diploma.
SCHEDULE DEMANDS:
- General schedule is an 8-hour M-F assignment, however, employee must be willing to work alternate schedules occasionally; that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Constant Walking in the warehouse
- Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
- Sitting or standing for extended periods of time up to 8-hours.
- Occasional squatting, kneeling, climbing and twisting
- Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
- Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
