Key Responsibilities


  • Set up employee pay profiles including pay, deductions, and time entry processes.
  • Support the Associate Director Payroll, HRIS & Benefits with managing systems implementation and integration ensuring project timelines are met.
  • Act as main point of global payroll contact for internal/external stakeholders.
  • Provide back-up support for North American payroll as needed.
  • Accurately prepare, review, and enter pay related items within payroll systems & working with outsourced providers.
  • Investigate payroll issues, identify causes, formulate recommendations for resolution and assist in the resolution and in making the final determination on these.
  • Training, testing, and validation of the payroll integrations
  • Reconcile month-end duties such as vacation accrual, payroll clearing, journal entries, etc.
  • Identify client needs, issues and perceptions and develop action plans to ensure a positive client and employee experience.
  • Ensure on-time and accurate disbursement of all payroll transactions for employees for multiple international payrolls, while ensuring HR and Payroll records remain in synch.
  • Responsible for payroll tax activities and research laws and regulations regarding taxes and payroll withholding procedures in new business locations.
  • Assists finance team and internal and external auditors with quarterly reviews, year-end audits, and Sarbanes-Oxley (“SOX”) audits of procedures and controls as needed.
  • Process monthly EMEA/APAC payroll, ensuring all deadlines are met, including preparing payroll input, and ensuring accuracy, authorization, and compliance.
  • Works collaboratively with clients and stakeholders to develop an implementation project plan for payroll integrations.
  • Work closely with Human Resources team to ensure timely and accurate data transition to payroll.
  • Participate in internal and external payroll project team meetings regarding payroll and HRIS integration/implementations.
  • Assist in the maintenance of country specific payroll guidelines and applicable policies and procedures.


Education And Experience


  • Proficient with Office 365 (Word, Excel etc.).
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) (in progress or completion) is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Payroll legislation and procedures.
  • International payroll experience is an asset.
  • 4-5 years of experience in payroll is preferred.
  • Experience with multiple payroll systems is preferred.


Skills And Abilities


  • Working knowledge of Canadian payroll rules/legislation and employment legislation is preferred.
  • Intermediate skills in Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and use discretion.
  • Resourceful and proactive in finding solutions and driving continuous improvement and efficiency.
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, organized, and self-motivated with the ability to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and foster effective working relationships with managers, employees, vendor providers and other external and internal stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of practices and procedures related to payroll is required.
  • Ability to function under pressure and meet multiple service demands.
  • PCP payroll designation and global experience preferred.
  • Ability to expand payroll knowledge base to support global business growth.
  • Payroll systems implementation an asset
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
