Program Overview – Payroll, Central Services


The Finance team is a central resource to the entire organization; responsible for payroll, accounts receivable and payable, and financial reporting.


What You Will Do


  • Look for innovative ways to improve the payroll cycle, including identifying and implementing ways to automate existing manual processes.
  • Support with external financial audits.
  • Perform various payroll related activities to support the business such as internal/external reporting requirements for various stakeholders.
  • Ensure all payroll related payments, tax remittances and filings, and government reporting are completed accurately and on time.
  • First point of contact for all employee inquiries related to payroll.
  • Process timely and accurate biweekly payroll using ADP, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and legislations and in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Prepare and ensure timely and accurate remittance of retirement contributions.
  • Ensure staff receive their year-end tax documents (e.g. T4s, W2s) by the deadline.
  • Filing and other tasks as assigned
  • Ensure all payroll and benefit-related accounts are timely and accurately reviewed and reconciled.


What You Bring to the Team
  • Minimum of 2 Year Community College Diploma in Accounting or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of payroll/related experiences preferred.
  • Canadian Payroll Association membership an asset.


What Will Set You Apart
  • Able to work within tight deadlines and established payroll schedules.
  • Knowledge of ADP payroll system an asset.
  • Team player, able to function effectively within a small team comprised of individuals from diverse cultures with individual working styles.
  • Strong data entry skills, with attention to both speed and accuracy.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment, with understanding of Collective Agreements, considered an asset.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly in the use of spreadsheet software, with the ability to manipulate data for analytical purposes.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards, particularly as it pertains to pay and hours of work.
  • Strong understanding of payroll-related statutory regulations.
