Hays Specialist Recruitment has partnered with a leading national provider of data and voice cabling systems organization located in Richmond Hill. We are looking to hire a Payroll Officer to join their team on a fixed term basis of 18 months, which has the possibility of extension/ permanency.

Your new role

• Effectively communicate with employees regarding payroll matters, addressing concerns and resolving issues promptly.
• Review and verify timekeeping records for accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with HR to manage employee benefits enrollment, changes, and terminations.
• Support audits by preparing payroll data and records as required.
• Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations to ensure full compliance.
• Accurately process payroll on a regular basis, ensuring that all employee compensation, deductions, and benefits are calculated correctly.
• Identify opportunities to streamline and improve payroll processes for increased efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate with IT to address technical issues and improvements in the payroll system.
• Continuous Improvement:
• Ensure proper taxation, garnishments, and deductions are applied in accordance with relevant laws.
• Assist employees with inquiries related to their payroll and benefits, providing exceptional customer service.
• Utilize and maintain payroll software to process payroll and keep accurate records.
• Propose and implement process enhancements as appropriate.
• Update employee information and changes promptly.
• Generate payroll reports and provide financial data for management and accounting purposes.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records related to payroll, benefits, and timekeeping.

What you'll need to succeed

• Payroll certification an asset
• 2-3 years exp processing payroll of 300-500+ employees
• Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.);
• Ability to interface with all levels of staff in a professional manner.
• Strong administration and organizational skills.
• Ceridian Dayforce Experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
