Job Summary:
The Manager of Payroll will oversee and supervise the organization’s payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations for all employees in Canada and US.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
• Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
• Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
• Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
• Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
• Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
• Proficient with payroll software, ADP and Oracle HCM a plus.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field; or equivalent experience required.
• Five years of managing a team required.
• Processing payroll across Canada and the US required.
• Seven years of experience in processing payroll.
