Controller - Manufacturing Jobs

The Opportunity:

Our client, a manufacturing organization in the GTA, has partnered with ML6 in their search for a Controller to join their team!

What You'll Be Doing:

• Actively participate in the Sales and Operations Planning process, focusing on manufacturing capacity and constraints to maximize revenue and earnings.
• Develop and conduct periodic audits of financial data. Work with external auditors during the year-end audit work.
• Prepare and monitor the annual financial plan and monthly forecast for the division (particularly labor and overhead costs) ensuring achievement of financial objectives and corrective actions for deviations.
• Ensure accurate reporting of all material and labor at a work order level, including scrap and returned material.
• Prepare and maintain financial analysis with supporting documentation for the General Manager and other operating personnel.
• Analyze and interpret accounting and operational information to improve operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other performance measurements.
• Compare actual cost to quotes and engineering estimates to identify root causes of variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct business analysis to recommend sourcing alternatives to Purchasing (i.e., make/buy decisions.)
• Participate in cost saving and continuous improvement projects.
• Evaluate capital requirements for the plant and perform financial analysis to support the business case for investment.
• Review monthly balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure that the balances are supported and accurate. Review monthly with Finance leadership.
• Ensure compliance with all Corporate Accounting procedures and associated governmental financial reporting requirements. Reports deviations promptly to the Operations Controller.
• Review and approve all journal entries and maintain the general ledger system to ensure accurate financial reporting.

What You'll Need To Be Successful:

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Strong cost accounting background
• Post secondary education in Accounting
• Previous people management experience
• CPA or MBA is desired.
• 5+ years of experience as a Financial Controller
• Experience with job costing systems is preferred.
