About The Opportunity…


As an integral part of the “we can do that” operation, and as the leader of the Finance/Accounting Team, this position is responsible to monitor the financial health of the operation. Specifically:


  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as lending institutions, shareholders, external accountants, taxation authorities and others
  • Work with the dealership management team; provide insights and feedback to ensure exceptional financial results while minimizing risk and exposure
  • Maintain ownership of general ledger and trial balance, including schedules and related entries, ensuring information within the system agrees to supporting documents and external sources
  • Develop, motivate and supervise accounting team members
  • Oversee all accounting activities and cycles, including revenues/receivables/receipts and purchases/payables/payments, treasury, payroll, compliance and related processes
  • Develop, maintain, manage and analyze financial statements, payroll, budgets and tax compliance issues
  • Monitor the company’s financial direction, policies, accounting practices
  • Champion internal processes and procedure improvements and maintain documentation to that effect
  • Champion cash management processes and systems to ensure strong liquidity
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting packages and manage year-end reporting processes


About You…


Ideal candidates will have a strong background and proven experience in managing the finance/accounting operation and department, including:


  • Experience leading and supervising Team Members
  • Strong attention to detail, organized and strategic
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or equivalent, with strong technical accounting skills and understanding of accounting guidelines
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • A desire to work in a high energy, fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience as a Controller or in progressive roles within an automotive and/or dealership setting is preferred
  • Proficiency working with ERP systems (such as CDK or Reynolds&Reynolds) and payroll management programs (Payworks, ADP or similar)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Self-motivated and driven with a passion for excellence in execution
  • A proven commitment to quality of work
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to influence change and effectively lead projects
  • Strong ability to communicate professionally (verbal and written)
  • Change champion with the ability to bring new ideas, a fresh perspective and a sense of urgency to drive accounting and operational improvements
  • Ability to maintain and improve internal controls
  • Demonstrated desire to continuously develop new skills, take on new challenges and actively seek out opportunities for improvement
  • CPA or equivalent designation is an asset, not required
  • Demonstrated track record of using Microsoft Office programs, including expert-level proficiency in Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, and data manipulation and analysis)
