My client is a global manufacturing operation, seeking a Controller for its North American operations located in their head office in Brantford.

Your new role

The Controller will report directly to the VP of Finance and Supply Chain. The Controller will have a regional scope of responsibility for Canada and USA entities. The main functions required for this role are to coordinate and to administer a plan for the control of profit, expense, saving opportunities, capital investing and accounts receivable/accounts payable. The Controller will supervise staff to control AP/AR. The Controller is responsible for managing the Accounting Department of North American region. The role will monitor the credit and collections, control of invoicing and execution of payments/cash disbursement of expenses of the North America region. The Controller compares performance with operating plan and past years, formulation of accounting policies and special reports as required. The controller will manage cash flow forecasts. The role communicates and works with the VP and CFO for financial strategies adapted to business needs. The Controller will manage tax preparation for Canada and the US ensuring that all tax returns (Property, Federal, State, others) are filed in a timely manner. The Controller prepares reports related to finance and month end closing. The Controller establishes internal controls and audit procedures to ensure proper financial management. The Controller collaborates in the coordination of budgets, performs scorecard and KPIs for Financial and accounting control.

What you'll need to succeed

The preferred candidate will have a completed CPA designation with 5-7+ years of accounting experience. You will ideally have prior staff management experience, able to lead, mentor and develop a team. SAP experience is required. Excellent Financial Analysis capabilities with experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment is required. You will possess good communications skills, written and verbal. The ability to build strong working relationships with all aspects of the company (Operations, Sales, Planning and Procurement) is required. You will possess a high energy level and be comfortable in managing several tasks and projects with usual activities. You will be participative, team worker, proactive and results-oriented.
