What you’ll be doing: As a Help Desk Level 2/Junior Network Engineer, you will be reporting to the Senior Operations Manager and will perform a wide range of tasks ranging from technology deployment and rollout, resolve connectivity issues, user support and development of the existing technology infrastructure, etc.
Practically speaking, you will:
- Install and manage Linux and Windows server application servers for support and maintenance.
- Log, monitor and report all incidents and support-related tasks that come in through the service management ticketing tool tracking
- Install, configure and troubleshoot various software applications/virus solutions/hardware to meet customer requirements; assist with proactive refresh cycles, patch compliance, upgrades projects, data backups
- Provide advice, guidance and training to users in response to identified difficulties and promote overall end-user self-reliance
- Investigate, identify, troubleshoot Windows 7/10 OS user issues and analyze root cause, identify application vulnerabilities, recommend and implement proactive solutions/corrective actions
- Ensure that all end-users are aware of the status and progression of their incidents, problems and estimated time to resolution
- Upgrading and migrating network equipment
- Provide immediate support and resolution (by phone, e-mail, or use of remote support tools) by identifying, analyzing, resolving and documenting issues (hardware/software/ peripherals) – consult user guides, technical manuals and other resources to research and implement solutions
- Minimize system software/hardware downtime - report and resolve downtime as quickly as possible using escalation process
- Collaborate with peers to execute daily operations and special projects
- Migrate systems while maintaining minimal downtime
- Maintain and adhere to corporate IT security policies/procedures
What you’ll bring:
- Understanding of best practices regarding system security
- Well versed experience in workstation, server management and network administration
- Experience provisioning workstations and providing remote support
- Experience in upgrading, patching and replacing servers (server 2012, and 2016)
- Sharing knowledge, discoveries, ideas, challenges, and solutions with peers, managers, and executives
- Ability to communicate effectively with end users at all levels who may have no technical computer background
- 2-4 years of experience working with network equipment and comfortable in working with network hardware and doing proper cable management
- Applying a deep technical understanding of industry standards network infrastructure, and technical solution trends
- Knowledgeable with various network protocols (DHCP, SNMP, DNS, STP, ARP, ICMP, FTP, VPN etc.)
- Experienced in managing and administering windows server and Linux environments
- Ability to lift items up to 25 LBS
- Diploma/bachelor in computer science or related technical field
